Thoughts on Ursula?

I like the [name_f]Sula[/name_f] bit, not the Urs bit

I can’t personally separate it from the Disney villain, but I think it has a really nice sound.

Cool name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!. Like all the bear names but its so pretty. I know people worry about the association with the seawitch but like…what a babe if you’re gonna be evil and undermine a sea monarchy can you have a better role model. Plus [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] K. LeGuin, absolute boss of a writer, good associations to me anyway.

No, just no

All I can think of are old lady’s and the one from The little Mermaid, that ruins the name for me personally.

I want to like this, it should be very much my style. But I don’t.

I want to like it (it’s saintly, multicultural, and the meaning is rather cute), but I don’t love the sound plus the Disney villainess gave it a rather negative association.

Maybe at some point it will come back into popularity, but I think it’s in style limbo right now (which could be a good thing if you’re looking for an unusual name).

Not keen I think the name sounds unattractive and I just associate with the Disney villain as @itsjustjack said

I greatly dislike the sound of it.

I adore [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]. If my [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] had been a girl, his name would have been [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]. I was aiming for [name_u]Sully[/name_u] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] as a nickname, which I feel makes [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] more accessible.

I love the imagery I get from the name. It gives me “Queen of the Arctic” vibes, making me think of bears, stars, and fluffy snow. Bears because of the “little bear” meaning, of course. Stars because of the constellations [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] [name_m]Major[/name_m] and [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] [name_m]Minor[/name_m]. And snow, just because [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] feels so Northern European to me.

All I think of is the villian

I can’t separate it from the Disney character, but it doesn’t really appeal to me, personally.

I LOVE [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I love the meaning, the association with the stars, and the sound. It’s just too cute.

I honestly really like it! I think it’s a really cool name, although the villain association is unfortunate. I also love [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] as an alternative that doesn’t have that association!

Okay yea I know everyone just thinks of [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] the sea witch. But [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] [name_m]Le[/name_m] [name_u]Guin[/name_u] is my favorite writer of all time and so my association is 100% positive. Plus little bear and star vibes, which is so cute! I love the nicknames [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] and [name_f]Ursi[/name_f] and a friend of mine actually has a little [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Sally[/name_f].

I can’t help but think of the sea witch. Not a someone I’d like to share a name with! I’d have been crushed as a little lass if I discovered I shared a name with a Disney character… and it was a villain of that prominence. :grimacing:

I think about [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] from the little mermaid and I don’t really enjoy the sound of the name.

I’m not a fan. I only ever think of the evil [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] from the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid.
