Thoughts?
It’s a lot to live up to. If you were an athlete, it might be fine, but what if you were introverted and bookish?
I really like it! I don’t think it’s too much to live up to — yes, it has the eye-catching X at the start but the rest of the name is fairly conventionally pretty and flowy. It’s like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with more punch! I’d love to be called [name_f]Xenia[/name_f]
A bold and sparkling name. [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] is a softer, flowery alternative
I never know how to pronounce it and that’s why I still haven’t formed an opinion Where I live it’s spelled Ksenija and pronounced x-ehn-ee-yah (x like in Alex). However, [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] on paper just confuses me. That aside, it’s a stunning name visually and one-of-a-kind for sure.
I’m not such a big fan of the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation (it doesn’t really fit the vibe of the spelling to me, if that makes any sense) but I do like the name visually!
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] is really lovely! I actually know (or know of) a couple, and both wear it incredibly well!
I admit to preferring the Russian (Slavic?) [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f], but [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] is really unexpected and cool, but also has this old-soul, dainty sort of feel to me, too. I think something like [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], for example, would be really pretty!
There are some names you can’t imagine on an adult and some you can’t imagine on a child. [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] falls in the latter category for me.
To be completely honest it seems more like the name of a character (or maybe a planet or species) in a space opera as opposed to an actual name of a person.
I assume it would be pronounced [name_f]Xena[/name_f] but with an “ia” end? I think it would help to know if it’s [name_f]Xena[/name_f] (warrior princess) but with an issue or something that leans into [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
I know two Ksenias, they are from Russia. I to be honest have never met a Xenia / Ksenia who is not slavic so it would be a particular name to wear outside of Slavic countries or Greece for me, but it would be beautiful! Stunning, particular, sharp and with a cool sound.
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] is intriguing and cool!!
I really like Xenia with the Zee-nee-ah pronunciation. It’s strong and pretty, unusual yet familiar via other similar names (Zena, Zinnia) as others have said.
I have a great grandmother [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] / [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] (she went by both spellings), and I absolutely love this name. It just feels sophisticated and sleek to me. I also like the variation [name_f]Senja[/name_f].
I teach a child called Xenia (pn ks-zen-ee-uh) and i think it’s beautiful! I don’t think it’s too much to live up to at all. You can be introverted and still suit this name in my opinion. The only problem is the pronunciation - i believe i pronounce hers correctly but some call her ze-nee-uh which upsets her. Anyway, I hope to see it used more in the future
What is the correct pronunciation? I’ve always assumed it was zee-nee-uh without considering that might not be right!!
It’s the only X name I like for girls!
I recently moved to Ohio and one of the towns here is called [name_f]Xenia[/name_f]. I think it has great nn options (Xenie, Nia) and has spunk!
I think it’s quite cool. X names always feel ultra cool and “futuristic” to me, if you will, as you just don’t see many of them as an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker! I’d instinctively pronounce it “ZEE-nee-uh” but am totally loving the more Slavic “kh-ZEH-nee-uh” I’m seeing in the comments! [name_u]An[/name_u] all-around cool name.
I love it as a middle for a more staid first name, though only because I try to avoid needing pronunciation explanations for firsts. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] has been on my long list before, though I probably prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f].
I know a [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] and she’s a really cool person. It has great associations.
