I recently came across the name [name_f]Amara[/name_f], and it has stuck with me ever since. I love the meaning (lovely forever; grace) and I feel like it fits my criteria: 3+ syllables, classy and elegant, “international” but familiar in the US. What are your opinions on the name? Does [name_f]Amara[/name_f] fit with my other favorites ([name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f])?
I’ve really been loving [name_f]Amara[/name_f] recently. It’s almost the perfect name in terms of honouring, because it has so many meanings from different origins. It has some origins in Arabic (dad’s side of my family all have Arabic names) with the meaning dear/sweetheart, to honour my mum [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f], and it’s very close to my middle name (a variation of) [name_f]Amira[/name_f]. Talk about coincidence! Plus I love the eternally beautiful meaning too. So I do really like it. I think [name_f]Amara[/name_f] sounds fine with your favourites, especially [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
Thanks @myosotis!
I adore [name_f]Amara[/name_f]! I have for a long time. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning, love that it would work all over the world, it’s just effervescent to me.
@sodallas3 - Thanks! I completely agree with you!
No problem!
It really is beautiful. It sounds modern yet ancient and almost fairytale-like. It definitely works with your other choices.
I love it. It would be on my list if it didn’t sound totally off in my accent (I love [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] and [name_f]Samara[/name_f] too but they’re off for the same reason). It also fits in well with your other favourites!
It’s a great name choice and fits nicely with your other names as well! I have never met an [name_f]Amara[/name_f], but there is an [name_f]Adara[/name_f] in my daughter’s ballet class. They pronounce it “uh-DARE-uh”.
Agree with pp comments. It is lovely, elegant, and sophisticated!
Thanks @whitegardenia!
