What do you think of Astor? Boy or girl?

I love the name for a girl since I heard it on [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], lately I’m kind of obsessed with the name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it for either boy or girl?

I like it for both and think it could work for either. It’s not a name I’ve heard often, so I don’t really have an image of who it would belong to in my head.

I think it’s really cool for a boy, with an on-trend but distinct sound! For a girl, I like [name_u]Aster[/name_u] more, but [name_u]Astor[/name_u] still works.

Honestly [name_u]Aster[/name_u] sounds like a girl name to my ear. Think I’d prefer [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] to get that sort of sound for a boys name … but it’s not too girlie for a boy if you love it. It doesn’t sound overtly feminine or anything, I had just simply assumed it was a flower or a plant although the name meaning is star… which makes me think of names like estella which are femme. [name_u]Aster[/name_u] definitely makes me think of a sweet little wavy haired girl in a meadow, it feels bohemian and super cute to have a daughter who is your little star.

I think it could work for either but initially I thought more boy! It’s a cool name

[name_u]Astor[/name_u] feels floral but powerful! It feels fairly neutral to me  Could lean either way

I like [name_u]Astor[/name_u]. However, I definitely think it would go better on a boy.

I like it, though I prefer [name_u]Aster[/name_u] as in the flower (I pronounce them the same)! It’s quite neutral to me.

I actually think it’s masculine leaning so either is probably fine!

I knew an [name_u]Astor[/name_u] and he was a boy. It feels exclusively masculine for me but I can see it on a girl.

I prefer [name_u]Astor[/name_u] for a boy and [name_u]Aster[/name_u] for a girl, but I think both spellings could totally work for any gender. Great names.

Because of the flower, I think it leans a little more girl in my head, but that would also be with the Aster spelling.

Since it sounds a lot like Asher, it totally would work for a boy too, I think! I would go with the Astor soelling for a boy

This one makes me think of the car brand, [name_m]Aston[/name_m] [name_m]Martin[/name_m]!

You’re so right about that   I didn’t realize as I read it with the Spanish pronunciation, but now it’s definitely out of my list

I’d assume boy for [name_m]Astor[/name_m] and girl for [name_f]Aster[/name_f], but wouldn’t be surprised to see either on any gender. I like the sound!

That name is good.

Personally I have a negative association just because of the robber barron [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_m]Astor[/name_m]. But then again that doesn’t seem to stop people from naming their kids [name_f]Morgan[/name_f], like the banker.

[name_m]Astor[/name_m] is very cool, but I would expect it to be a boy. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] is lovely and spunky for a girl, though.
