Is it usable in the US? Are the nicknames [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], or [name_f]Tilde[/name_f], [name_f]Hildy[/name_f] too much of a stretch?
Do you prefer Clotilde/ Clothilde/ or Clotilda?
I like it, but the average person might find it strange. The nicknames are definitely useable though.
I prefer [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f]. The others remind me of blood clots.
I really like it, but agree that anyone outside of NB would probably raise their eyebrows at it and/or pronounce it incorrectly. I really like the nickname options and they definitely tone it down some. I especially like [name_f]Hildy[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]. You could use [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] as a nickname, too.
I love it! Iād probably be more inclined to use [name_f]Clotilde[/name_f] though, I think this spelling is probably more āUS friendlyā. [name_f]Clotilda[/name_f] looks even more familiar, since [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is well-known.
I have [name_f]Clodagh[/name_f] on my list.
I donāt even know how to say it, and I think it looks hideous.
I like itā¦[name_m]French[/name_m] sounding.
I like that you can use the nn [name_f]Cloe[/name_f].
For spelling, I think I would be inclined to use [name_f]Clotilde[/name_f] because of my cultural background.

I have no idea how to pronounce it. I honestly donāt see the appealā¦it doesnāt look very pretty. And the first syllable is clot, I think of blood clots or cloth.
I can see its appeal on a character, a dog or a cat. On a real person, it seems like a trying-too-hard version of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], or a smoosh version of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] + [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
I think the similarity to [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] would be an advantage, but Iām not really a fan.
I find it very unpleasant ā both in look and sound.
I second the blood clots.
I think itās too much of a name for a child. For a pet, maybe? No one is going to know how to pronounce it or spell it.
I think it would be an aggravation to teachers and she would feel odd kid out as a child. I could see as she enters High schoolā¦Clottyā¦ I really see no positives on this one!
I canāt take it serious but thatās because [name_f]Clo[/name_f] resembles the sound of Klo which mean ātoiletā in [name_m]German[/name_m], however this is not relevant to you.

Itās a favorite. To me, the abruptness makes it difficult to place as a fn so itās on the mn list. I donāt like [name_f]Clotilda[/name_f]; it lacks the sleekness of [name_f]Clotilde[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nn is [name_f]Cloe[/name_f]/[name_f]Clo[/name_f]. I prefer the look of [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] but thereās more potential for mispronunciation than for [name_f]Clotilde[/name_f]
Iām not too sure on the pronunciation, and it would appearā¦ strange in the U.S. but go for it if you really want to!
As much as I like [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f], I think sheād have issues in the US. I think itās a very beautiful name, but few would appreciate her sort of beauty. I used it on a character once, and my writing circle didnāt care for the name. 
[name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] is my preferred spelling. I do think [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], [name_f]Tilde[/name_f], and [name_f]Hildy[/name_f] work as nicknames. Iād consider [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], as theyāre similar in sound, but more familiar.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! I first was introduced to the name a few months back while trying to decide on a name for a beautifully chic [name_m]French[/name_m] girl, and I came across this ancient beauty! Then I needed a nickname for her, and [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], [name_f]Tilde[/name_f], [name_f]Hildy[/name_f] werenāt going to work for me because they didnāt sound [name_m]French[/name_m] to my ears. So then I had her love interest come up with the nn [name_u]Claude[/name_u] for [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f]. It makes sense. [name_f]Maude[/name_f] for [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], so why not [name_u]Claude[/name_u] for [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f]? Now I love the name so much Iām planning on using it for my own girl! 
[name_f]Clotilda[/name_f] is equally as lovely as [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] only for the [name_m]French[/name_m] flair.
I love [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] - but then I also love the blogger who writes the lovely food blog chocolate and zucchini. Itās in English and has a wide readership. [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] is often a guest on NPR. Go for it!
