What Do You Think Of Dorian?

My great grandma’s name is Doris and I’ve thought about using it as a middle name for a future daugter for a while now, but what about Dorian for a son? Do you think it would be acceptable to name a future son after my grandma? And if so, what do you think about feminine versions of Loranzie, my great grandpa’s name? And what are some suggestions for feminine versions of Loranzie? I’ve honestly never even met anyone named Loranzie other than my grandpa, I think it’s an alternate version of Lorenzo. I’ve honestly never met another Loranzie and any Google searches come up fruitless lol

I absolutely love the name [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] — it’s warm and soft and literary and incredibly handsome.

As for naming your son after your grandma, it’s definitely acceptable and actually feels extra special as an honour to me. Like you’ve gone out of your way to honour this special person, rather than just by convention.

[name_f]My[/name_f] eldest son is actually named (partly) for his two great-grandmas so naturally I love this idea.

Would you consider using Loranzie as a middle for a daughter? I would assume female if I saw the name, quite honestly — I certainly think it could work for either sex, especially as a middle.

Other ideas to honour Loranzie…

[name_m]Loran[/name_m] (Lauren, Loren)
[name_f]Lora[/name_f] (Laura)
[name_f]Elora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
Anzie
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]
Loranza
Zielle
[name_u]Laurel[/name_u]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] (due to meaning)

I do love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I like Loranza too, or [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f].

I’m just not sure how my family would feel about it, or my s/o.

I love Dorian!! I really like softer sounds in boy names, and I think it’s a great way to honor a [name_f]Doris[/name_f]. For feminizations of Loranzie, maybe Loran/Loren or [name_u]Ren[/name_u]?

i love dorian! i think it’s a perfect, meaningful way to honor a doris. my favorite nickname for dorian is dorian “darcy”!!

i love the idea of loren + ren as an honor for loranzie.

Dorian’s a great name.

I really like Dorian!! It has a cool, distinct sound, slightly mystical and interesting. I know some people might be put off by The Picture of Dorian Gray association but I like a literary tie.

Absolutely!!

Loranzie is intriguing!! Some feminine honours could be:

Lorenza
Loretta
Loren
Lora
Lorelei
Tanzy
Zazie
Lorna

I absolutely love [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] he’s so handsome, has this cool storybook vibe and I love the overall geek chic of the name. I think [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] is a wonderful honour for your Grandmother and I absolutely love the idea of honouring your Grandma through your son’s name!

With Lorenzie I think this could work as a middle name for a daughter especially as gender fluidity with names is very popular and Lorenzie doesn’t feel overly masculine. If your not keen on that idea I really like the idea of [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] is a vibrant strong name that sounds elegant. I would have something like [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped

[name_u]Dorian[/name_u] is a beautiful name and a great way to honor grandma [name_f]Doris[/name_f]. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be acceptable to name a son after your grandma. I think Loranzie could work for both boys and girls. You could also consider [name_f]Lorena[/name_f], [name_f]Lorene[/name_f] or [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f].

Yes, I think [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] after [name_f]Doris[/name_f] is very nice. For a girl version of Loranzie:

[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lora[/name_f]
Loralai

I do immediately think of Picture of [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] but I otherwise love the name.

Loranzie sounds feminine to me. A bit like [name_u]Makenzie[/name_u]! Maybe just Anzie?
