So recently I started expanding my list again and found Eason, and I’m a little in love with it. I’m a long time lover of [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], and it feels like a nice alternative (although I’m trying to train myself to love names regardless of their popularity).
My question is just what all of your thoughts are on it – I know it looks a little like a made up name, and that was my concern, but after doing some research I am at least confident that there is substantial historical record of it being a Scottish surname, which I think is cool. So yes – just wanted to test it out.
i’m not a huge fan but my biggest issue with this name is that i foresee people constantly thinking it’s a misspelling of [name_u]Easton[/name_u] when they see it in print.
I know a family with the surname Eason, so it is a legitimate name. I’m not a fan though. It sounds like “ease in” and would likely be confused for [name_u]Easton[/name_u] on a regular basis. Besides that it just doesn’t have much substance to me.
Only because I’m familiar with [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] would I say ay-son. If not, I think my instinct would be ee-son. I don’t mind it but I do agree it might get mispronounced a lot. It looks like reason with the r cut off.
I’d avoid just because [name_u]Easton[/name_u] is rising in popularity, so it would be constantly mistaken for it.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] if it is pronounced Ay-son, I’d hear it and think you just left the J off [name_m]Jason[/name_m], another ‘younique’ name.
I do see it’s a surname, but it doesn’t automatically come off as one.
