What do you think of Jasmine?

I do have other names I like better- but I am mulling this one over.
Tell me what you think.

Is it one of those names that will become yesterday’s trend? or is it classic enough to last?
What about a nn ?

The whole [name]Princess[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name] thing doesn’t bother me.

I used to love [name]Jasmine[/name]. It was a MN on my list ([name]Claire[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name]), but it just feels dated to me now. It also has a bit lower-class vibe to me, although I’m not sure why. Other flower names are very much in style and very loved… Maybe a variant? Like [name]Jessamine[/name], [name]Yasmin/name, [name]Yasmina[/name], etc.? I actually adore [name]Yasmin[/name]/[name]Yasmina[/name]…

I love [name]Jasmine[/name] (and the nn [name]Jazz[/name]) but I agree with pp it does feel slightly dated, [name]Jessamine[/name] is a little fresher sounding. Another name that’s in a similar vein is [name]Yesenia[/name].

I was wondering if it was fading.
I ‘played’ with the spelling of my second daughter’s name (only one letter) and chosen a Scandinavian spelling. Bad idea, I am not repeating that. LOL It was never correctly written, unless by family.

I know what you mean about the class thing- I can’t pin point it either.
It fits alot of things I want in a name, but somehow not.

I work at a children’s museum and I swear I see at least 5 [name]Jasmine[/name]/Jasmyns (and a few more kre8tive spellings) come in every day. Generally around 5-7. So if you choose it now you may be at the tail end of the trend. It is a lovely name even if it isn’t my style.

And on another note, [name]Jessamine[/name] - as a pp suggested - is quite lovely. I prefer that over [name]Jasmine[/name].

I really like [name]Jasmine[/name]. I’ve only known one [name]Jasmine[/name] and she went by [name]Jazz[/name], which I think it cute.

I love the name [name]Jasmine[/name]. However, despite how much I like it, I can only see myself personally using it as a middle name. I remember I was watching [name]Aladdin[/name] and said I wanted to name my kid [name]Jasmine[/name] and she said that it sounded too ethnic. I dont agree, and wouldn’t change my preference for my mother, but for some reason I just prefer it as a middle, not sure why.

I love it too but still think it is too popular. I like the less popular suggestions mentioned above, like [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Yesenia[/name].

such a pretty name, such a pretty flower. i don’t think this name is very popular at least not by me and not right now…maybe when [name]Alladin[/name] first came out? i don’t know. i think it would make a great middle. i don’t care for [name]Jessamine[/name]. [name]Yasmine[/name] is pretty and i like [name]Tasmin[/name] as well.

I love [name]Tamsin[/name]… maybe that is why I like the sound of [name]Jasmine[/name]! Never thought of that!
