[name]Maple[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] joins big sister [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Nora[/name].
Honestly? I think it’s pretty awful. The sy- beginning of [name]Sylvie[/name] paired with [name]Maple[/name] just makes me think of maple syrup. I’m not really a big fan of [name]Mabel[/name] anyway, but if they had gone with a different middle name, it would have been so much better.
I’ve heard [name]Maple[/name] thrown around on here, but quite frankly, I hate it. Too much tree for my taste. And pairing it with [name]Sylvie[/name] does make it look like [name]Maple[/name] Syrup. Bleck.
I love the MN. I know someone who loves [name]Maple[/name] for a girl and I honestly don’t see the appeal… [name]Even[/name] though I honestly hate [name]Mabel[/name] I think it makes a better name. I think [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Amabel[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Mabel[/name] would have been a much prettier choice! [name]Maple[/name] just doesn’t seem like a name to me.
I agree with the others. I strongly dislike [name]Maple[/name]. There are a ton of other tree names out there better than [name]Maple[/name]. I’m also not much of a fan of [name]Sylvie[/name]. Seems like a nickname. I feel the same way about [name]Sophie[/name].
It sounds like [name]Maple[/name] Syrup. Syvlie/[name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Maple[/name] would have been at least a tiny bit better.
[name]Maple[/name] is not what I would have ever thought to use as name, but I kind of like it.
I think [name]Maple[/name] is cute-not a fan of [name]Sylvie[/name].
I think [name]Maple[/name] is not my favorite, but okay. [name]Sylvie[/name] is not my favorite, but okay. [name]Maple[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] is wayyyyyyy too [name]Maple[/name] Syrup!!
I don’t think [name]Maple[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name] go together. I thought he would name his daughter something more closer to the name [name]Francesca[/name], like [name]Elizabeth[/name], or maybe even [name]Eliza[/name]. I’m not a huge fan of [name]Maple[/name], but I definitely like it more than [name]Sylvie[/name]. And, [name]Maple[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] does sound a lot like maple syrup, now that I think of it.
As celebrity names go, I think this was a really great one- controversial, on trend but not at all trendy, recognizable but very rarely used. I think the Afflecks did the same sort of thing with [name]Seraphina[/name], which I almost never heard mentioned before her birth, but now hear all the time. Some find it nauseatingly feminine, others think it’s great. [name]Maple[/name] seems to be getting the same kind of polarizing reaction. I love those kinds of names, even though I don’t always like them; they’re interesting and thought provoking and bring up possibilities I hadn’t thought of before.
In terms of the name itself, I like [name]Sylvie[/name], but [name]Maple[/name] isn’t my taste. It’s certainly on trend with [name]Willow[/name] and [name]River[/name] and even [name]Violet[/name], but nature names aren’t my thing. The sound is almost identical to [name]Mabel[/name], which is experiencing a bit of an explosion among the hipster set, but the spelling gives it a totally different vibe. I really don’t care for the sound- [name]Maple[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] are both really ugly to me. I hate the -ble/-ple- it’s just a totally hideous sound to my ears. And like Juma1234 said, [name]Francesca[/name] and [name]Maple[/name] are a really bizarre sibset, very poorly matched. [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Maple[/name] would’ve been great and gone well with [name]Francesca[/name], but I’m glad they went for [name]Maple[/name]- it’s fascinating!
[name]Maple[/name] is not good, [name]Sylvie[/name] is only slightly better.
[name]Do[/name] not like [name]Maple[/name]… and I agree that pairing [name]Sylvie[/name] with it, makes me think of [name]Maple[/name] Syrup. I have heard worse, and I guess you could say for a celebrity it isn’t bad… but from people who named their older daughter, the beautiful, elegant, timeless [name]Francesca[/name], I quite frankly expected a little more!
I have a friend with a [name]Golden[/name] Lab named [name]Maple[/name], so it’s tough for me to shake the thought that it is a dog’s name. The above poster is absolutely right about the gorgeousness of [name]Francesca[/name] and the, umm… oddity of [name]Maple[/name]. Sigh.
Lol was he drunk when they named her [name]Maple[/name] Syrup oops I mean [name]Sylvie[/name]? [name]Francesca[/name] and [name]Maple[/name] have got to be the worst possible sib set ever. Are they half sisters? That would be understandable I guess. Have a [name]Francesca[/name] & [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Timber[/name] & [name]Maple[/name], but lordy this is bad.
[name]Maple[/name] is cute and sweet, nice nn with [name]May[/name]…the mn starting with S ([name]Sy[/name] even!) is where I think they went wrong. My brain just sees [name]Maple[/name] Syrup…plus I think of [name]Sylvie[/name] as a nn to [name]Sylvia[/name] and don’t really like it. I think [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Nora[/name] sound better together.
I honestly don’t see the issue with it sounding like [name]Maple[/name] Syrup, it’s not like maple syrup is a Class A drug or anything…
I think [name]Maple[/name] is adorable, as is [name]Sylvie[/name]!
I strongly dislike both, and it DOES sound like [name]Maple[/name] Syrup. Plus, with [name]Francesca[/name]… messed up.
I hear “nipple” from [name]Maple[/name]…ugh.
I do love [name]Mabel[/name] though and [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] seems like a totally acceptable hipster and celeb baby name. Are we sure its not [name]Mabel[/name] and the media got it wrong?
I personally love [name]Maple[/name]! Someone on here mentioned it a few months back and I really liked it then.
I kind of like [name]Sylvia[/name] after watching In Time, but I still don’t like [name]Sylvie[/name].
I love [name]Maple[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name]. I am not seeing the [name]Maple[/name] Syrup connection.
