My choice was [name_f]Leona[/name_f]. My husbands choice was [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. Then I saw [name_f]Lena[/name_f]!
What do you think of it?
My choice was [name_f]Leona[/name_f]. My husbands choice was [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. Then I saw [name_f]Lena[/name_f]!
What do you think of it?
I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f]! It’s currently on my list as a nn for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but I think it’s a sweet standalone, too. I even love [name_f]Leona[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f], honestly, but [name_f]Lena[/name_f] does seem like a great compromise between [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_f]Nina[/name_f]!
Good luck!
It’s a great name, but I really love both [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_f]Nina[/name_f], so if my SO agreed to either of those I’d jump on it, lol.
If you both can’t chose or agree between the two, [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is a beautiful name and a great compromise.
Though, I prefer the spelling [name_f]Lina[/name_f]; [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lena[/name_f]! Beautiful name, I definitely like the spelling [name_f]Lena[/name_f] the best
I agree that I like the spelling [name_f]Lina[/name_f] better but I think it is fantastic! [name_f]Lina[/name_f] means “tender” and “devoted” which I think is so sweet.
It’s the perfect smashup of your favorite names, and it a great name on it’s own
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] is awesome!
I think [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is really sweet! The only drawback for me is that there’s so many pronunciations.
I like lena! it comes from [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] right?
[name_f]Lina[/name_f] is very different to me, in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] it’s an old lady nick name for many names.
I definitely prefer lena! leonie would be my second choice
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] is beautiful. I personally prefer spelling [name_f]Leana[/name_f], I just think it looks better. It’s a great compromise!
I really like [name_f]Lena[/name_f]! I know a girl named that and she wears it well.
It’s beautiful.
Are you pronouncing it [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-na or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na? I’ve always heard and said [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-na and [name_f]Lina[/name_f] as [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na. I see them as two entirely different names. [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is a diminutive of names like Madalena and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] so I think the [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-na pronunciation is the correct one for that spelling. I never realized anybody pronounced it [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na until reading the comments here. If you want the [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na pronunciation I would use [name_f]Lina[/name_f].
Anyhow, [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is one of my absolute favorite names! It’s gorgeous! Definitely in my top 3 girls names.
It’s one of my favorites, I first liked it because of the character, [name_f]Lena[/name_f] Duchannes
I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f] whether it is spelled “[name_f]Lena[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Lina[/name_f]”…pronounced [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-na or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na. Either pronunciation will be great. Definitely an amazing compromise of your 2 favourite names!
To add a third pronunciation, I know a Polish [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and she pronounces it LEH-na, rhyming with henna. I love it. Lots of people call her [name_f]Leena[/name_f] though.
I feel pretty neutral about it. It sounds nice, but it doesn’t really leave much of an impression on me. I like [name_f]Leta[/name_f] more, maybe because it’s rare and sounds a little stronger than [name_f]Lena[/name_f].
My grandmother had a cousin and an aunt named [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. I always thought it was a cool name, though a little short to work with my other daughter’s name. Turns out these [name_f]Lena[/name_f]'s names were short for [name_f]Evelina[/name_f].They spelled it with the “e”. They pronounced it “[name_u]Lee[/name_u]-na”.
Thanks everyone! We pronounce it [name_f]Leena[/name_f] but I like the [name_f]Lena[/name_f] spelling because it’s a river in [name_f]Russia[/name_f] and my sons name is a river a well. My step daughters middle name (as well as mine) is [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and this is a blended family (first “ours” baby) so love the idea of blending everyone names somehow.
Thoughts on [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f]?
