Liel is the name of my pastor’s daughter at church. I’ve known her my whole life and I’ve always looked up to her. She is a strong In her faith and she is so kind. She is the closest thing to a big sister I’ve ever had. When I was little I wanted to name my daughter [name_f]Liel[/name_f] (lee-EL) which is a Hebrew name that means “God gave me” but now I’m not sure because I think it might be too similar to my name [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. What do you guys think of this name? Is it too similar to my name? What middle names would you pair with it?
Somehow it seems incomplete to me. Maybe that’s just due to its unfamiliarity…? Other L names that could indirectly honor your friend: [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_u]Lyric[/name_u], and [name_u]Linden[/name_u]. [name_u]Linden[/name_u] is a tree name that seems contemporary and has a nice sound.
Liel is lovely!! I dont think it’s too close to [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]
Liel is such a beautiful name!! I do think it may be too close to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] though. Maybe it could work as a middle?
Or unless you don’t mind her name being so similar, that’s your choice!!
[name_f]Liel[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous! Maybe a little close to [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but I would still consider it!
I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. They might look somewhat similar, but they sound nothing alike. Like is gorgeous!
I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] either. As long as it’s not a problem for you…also children are being named after their parents or grandparents and a lot of people openly choose to give their kids similar names to their own’s. So try to see it positively, as a pro instead of a con, it might turn out to be a nice connection :))
I prefer [name_f]Ciel[/name_f], which is a [name_u]French[/name_u] word that means “sky”.
It’s really lovely, but I wouldn’t use it as a first if my name were [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. They do seem too similar to me – almost like mirror images of each other.
I’d definitely consider it in the middle slot though; [name_f]Liel[/name_f] is so sleek, simple and beautiful and the one you know sounds like a wonderful namesake.
I like [name_f]Liel[/name_f], it’s very Israeli. I’m not sure how it would go over with pronunciation in the US. I think it’s a little too close to [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
