[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is a nice combo, but I don’t really love [name_f]Margery[/name_f], it reminds me of the word perjury. It’s kind of sweet though. I guess I’m undecided!
I prefer the spelling [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]-- it seems lighter and not so much like margarine, plus, it has better nn potential. Possible nns: [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_u]Jorie[/name_u], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_f]Ro[/name_f], and [name_f]Rorie[/name_f]. If you want to get fancy, [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f] could be nicknamed [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] was a very common name in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] the middle ages, so I have a hard time seeing it paired with [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. It’s definitely dated to me. My husband has a great aunt [name_f]Marge[/name_f] ([name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]) and I hate the nickname, though I agree with you that the full name is just a bit nicer.
I dislike [name_f]Margery[/name_f], and the GoT character ([name_f]Margaery[/name_f] [name_m]Tyrell[/name_m]) doesn’t help the image I have of the name.
