What do you think of Solveigh

So a client I used to work with had named her daughter Solveigh said like solvay. Its norweigen. Its not even a name on here so I think its very very rare. I think its pretty. Im curious if others think its too wierd or if you think any odd things about it that might be a good reason not to use it.

Thanks for any comments

I think it’s beautiful! Someone mentioned it on Nameberry recently (I think it was spelled [name]Solveig[/name]), and I thought it was really elegant.

Good luck!

It is listed on Nameberry, without the H. Maybe that’s an effort to make the silent G more logical to English speakers. And, by the way, YES! to -eigh being said as -ay rather than -ee. Think about the word sleigh, and the name [name]Leigh[/name] makes no sense.

I loved this one as soon as I saw it.

Yes, you can spell it that way, but I think it doesnt look as pretty. Thanks for your comment

Yikes! I am not a fan, it sounds like Solvent to me. A similar name, with equally bad connotations, is Sylvann and I like it marginally better.

Solveigh is not a legitimate spelling; [name]Solveig[/name] is the real version pronounced the same way. I like it, I think!

it reminds me of the song [name]Solveig[/name]'s Leid by [name]Edvard[/name] Greig. Pretty Song, Pretty Name

It is a legitimate spelling… Its the german spelling of the name.

I think it’s gorgeous!

There is an English version of this name “Sovay”, which is featured in a song by [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Bird[/name], as well as an English folk song.

Beautiful name! I love the spelling.
