[name]Do[/name] you think of the Vampire Diaries? That’s one thing a lot of people seem to think of
It’s STEH-FAHN as some people pronounce it like Steven.
I had a Welsh teacher in college who was called [name]Stefan[/name]. The Welsh pronunciation is ‘steff-an’ so a little different to what you described above. I much prefer it to [name]Stephen[/name].
I like it quite a bit. In fact, it sounds great with our last name and I’d strongly consider using it if my brother’s name wasn’t [name]Stephen[/name]! He’s way too conceited already.
I’m still shocked to find out people watch the Vampire Diaries, having not been able to sit through 5 minutes of it myself
I think of the hot Dutch exchange student who used to frequent the Starbucks I worked at in college
I like the name but would pronounce it more as [name]Stef[/name]-uhn.
I do think of the Vampire Diaries, but that’s because I love the show. It is not a bad thing though. It is a good name either way! I think it is a classic name. I don’t like it pronounced like [name]Steven[/name].
I have never watched the Vampire Diaries, however I have another TV connection. Family Matters (back in the day :P) had the character “[name]Steve[/name] Urkel” who was super nerdy smart. He loved [name]Laura[/name] and much like the Nutty Professor created a super cool alternate personality who was “[name]Stefan[/name]” pronounced exactly as you pronounce it. Of course, [name]Laura[/name] loves [name]Stefan[/name].
However the association carries no feelings for me to the good or the bad. I actually like [name]Stefan[/name] as a name, but like it was pointed out Steff-an is the other likely pronunciation to be used, and you may find yourself correcting people.
My brother-in-law’s name is [name]Stefan[/name], pronounced the way that you’ve described. I’ve always liked it. [name]Unique[/name], masculine, intriguing. I’ve never watched the Vampire Diaries, but it does make a great vampire name, too.
I really love [name]Stefan[/name]. It sounds like a sophisticated, cool boys name to me!
I know a [name]Stefan[/name] pronounced stef-in. For stef-fahn I’d spell it [name]Stephan[/name]. (I know that probably makes little sense, but it does in my mind!) I actually really like it, and it’s not heard too often, so popularity isn’t an issue (at least where I am). Judging by the comments, there will be pronunciation issues, though. Which is something to be considered…
I like [name]Stefan[/name] (prounounced Steff-an), I’m not too keen on Steff-awn (something about the -awn makes it really fancy to me). It also brings to mind the current SNL character Stefon, who has probably forever deterred me from that name (even if he is a hilarious, well-received character)
