What do you think of the name [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] for a baby girl? I’m really starting to love it.
I really like it.
It’s cute, I’d have it on my list - it’s just I can’t picture it on my daughter exactly.
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] is too boring for me - but [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is pleasant. [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is more appealing again.
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is a lovely name. I love all ‘anna’ names!
I like it! I def. prefer that to [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] or [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Love[/name_f] it! My only question is… will you give it the American pronunciation ([name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]ANN[/name_f]-uh) or the traditional pronunciation? ([name_u]Jo[/name_u]-HAH-nah) My cousin’s name is pronounced the first way; my friend’s daughter is pronounced the second. Either way, a sweet and lovely name.
I really like it and had considered using it but was a little turned off knowing I’d have to correct pronunciation. Not that it would be hard to correct, but I have a name that I always have to correct people and its annoying to me.
I like it pronounced [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-hah-nah. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] classic name
I think it’s so pretty. I say [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-hah-nah.
It’s darling. I hope it sees a resurgence. Like others stated, it has a sparkle that neither [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] seem to have.
I like it a lot and it’s on our list, but I worry that everyone would pronounce it differently. I like “joe-hannah”.
I love that name! I have a friend who pronounces it “yo-HAHN-uh”
I like it, it’s a classic but can have a quirky twist!
I want to like it. I REALLY want to like it, actually. I USED to love it. It’s a feminization of my dad’s and brother’s name ([name_m]John[/name_m]), and it’s [name_m]German[/name_m], which also honors part of my heritage. I didn’t really ever see me having a [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], but I really loved the idea of it. It’s strong and yet so feminine, and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] could be really sweet nns ([name_u]Josie[/name_u], even, I’ve heard as a nn for it, but I’m not the hugest [name_u]Josie[/name_u] fan… I tried to get [name_f]Posy[/name_f] to work for it once, but that was just craziness, haha!). It makes me think of daisies and lace and dancing in meadows. I think it’s just lovely.
I have a coworker named [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] now, though, and while I don’t dislike her, she’s ruining my lovely image of [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. She goes by [name_u]Jojo[/name_u], which I find just ridiculous and cutesy on a grown woman, and she thinks she’s quite entitled and just takes advantage of people, and it’s really quite annoying, haha. But I would love to meet an adorable [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], and I do think it’s quite lovely!
Good luck!
I think it’s classic and sweet.
I have both [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanne[/name_f] on my list and I absolutely love them all.
I adore [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], and like all the pronunciations. I tried to sell it to my husband, but could never get him on board. I have always loved the name [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], too, but it got too popular for me…[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is a lovely alternative with even more nickname options. I pronounce it joe-[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] myself.
I think [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is one of the nicest female Germanic names out there. It is pronounced [name_f]Yo[/name_f]-hah-nah in german. It is the name of a good friend who is of german heritage and grew up correcting English speaking people on how to pronounce the “J” to the point where she started to spell her name [name_f]Yohanna[/name_f]. Either pronunciation is lovely.
I’m named [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]–[name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]HAnnah[/name_f]–and, unless the name becomes more popular and pronunciation more standardized, a girl with that name may have to deal her name being mispronounced roughly fifty percent of the time, as half of people say [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and half say [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-hahna. I think it’s an awesome name but it’s something to keep in mind.
