What do you think of the name Aria?

I am expecting twins in [name_u]November[/name_u], and I’m having a little difficulty choosing names. [name_m]Both[/name_m] babies are girls, and he wants one to be named [name_f]Aria[/name_f].

What do you think?

Congratulations!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is a lovely name, though very popular right now. It’s been used in a variety of books, movies, and TV shows, and also (I believe) has been used by celebrities. What other names are you considering?

Twin girls, lovely! Many congratulations. I like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and the Game of Thrones spelling [name_u]Arya[/name_u], keep in mind how popular the TV series is. Depends of course on what you pair it with but I find it to be short and sweet.

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is best left to the opera world in my opinion. I don’t like the trendiness of the name either.

I’m not a fan.

First of all, it’s one of those names that sounds light, airy, and ultra-feminine, but has little substance behind it.

Second, I fear that it’s meteoric rise since 2000 just precedes an eventual fall that will mark it as a early 21st century flash in the pan.

Third, I think there will be pronunciation problems, especially with the spelling [name_u]Arya[/name_u] out there now. [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-uh? Uh-[name_m]RYE[/name_m]-uh? [name_f]Air[/name_f]-EE-uh?

All that said, I don’t think it’s a horrible name…just not my cup of tea. If you like it as much as your dh, go for it.

I actually really like the name and know one adult with the name [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I think it is unique (not sure how it is considered popular) and has a beautiful sound.

Would you pronounce it: Are-ee-uh?

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is a gorgeous name!
I really love [name_f]Aria[/name_f], she sounds very sweet and has this light airy Italian feel. I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] would be a great choice for one of your twins. You could continue using the theme of ‘[name_f]Italy[/name_f]’ by using shorts sweet Italian choices similar to [name_f]Aria[/name_f].

I love the name [name_f]Aria[/name_f]! Sounds very pretty and feminine!

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f]! Similar is the Arabic [name_f]Alia[/name_f] (often spelled [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Alia[/name_f])

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] would be gorgeous!

I really love [name_f]Aria[/name_f]! It’s always been one of my favorite names and has been getting alot more attention nowadays (which leaves me sitting back saying “…yes, but i loved it even before Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars became popular” lol). I think it’s a beautiful, soft, ‘wind chimes on a summer day’ name that is a sweet alternative to other musical names such as [name_f]Melody[/name_f] and [name_f]Cadence[/name_f].

Also, for what it’s worth, seeng as you are having twins, I always used to love [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Capri[/name_f] as twin sister names  my family is Italian so it wouldn’t have been too out of place…

Good luck!!

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] doesn’t do anything for me. It’s trying to be pretty but it sounds bland and lacks substance. Could be well on its way to being trendy and dated, I think.

I love [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and it’s more well known now thanks to Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars, so I don’t think there will be much issue with pronunciation

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], my name is [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I know lots of people say it lacks substance and it doesn’t do anything for them. But as someone with the name, I love it.

It’s pronounced Are-ee-uh (this is the correct, Italian pronunciation). [name_m]Both[/name_m] my grandmother and father are musicians so my parents were very much aware of its origin and what it means. It also means “lioness” in Hebrew.

Unfortunately, it is getting SO trendy. Makes me so sad. Yes, it’s a beautiful name but it just doesn’t deserve to be trendy haha. I hate that it’s saddled with Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars (which I find to be a terrible show). [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t seen Game of Thrones but I absolutely hate how they misspelled it [name_u]Arya[/name_u]. I don’t get the whole replacing i with y, in any name though.

People pronounce it wrong when they first meet me, but I only have to correct them once and then the right one sticks.

My family calls me [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for short. Anyway, I love being named [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I constantly get told how beautiful my name is. Those are just my experiences though. Good luck in your name search for your twins!

i love it…i grew up playing music. So, that is the reference I think of - a beautiful melody. However, I’m pregnant with a girl, and from the instant I suggested it to my husband - he HATED it. So, I guess that is two opinions for you in one post, lol

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is a beautiful name, though it is rising in popularity.

I love it! It sounds so sweet and feminine, but it means “lioness” so it also has a very strong and powerful feel to it.

I love it!!

I absolutely love this name! I’m blown away that people think it sounds pretty but lacks substance – it feels the total opposite to me. Strong and beautiful with intense meaning and emotion. Maybe I’ve seen too many operas and am way too emotional about them. Yes, it’s considered a bit trendy, but that’s just because it’s so feminine and feminine names are trendy right now (following the [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/etc. blast). I don’t think it will be a dated name in the future. I especially love it on a little girl whose parents have some musical connection (which I lack, so I’m not sure I’d use it for myself regardless of how much I love it – but that’s just a weird thing with me), but it’s gorgeous regardless. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a name for your other little girl?

I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is very pretty… but I know a TON of little [name_f]Aria[/name_f]'s. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], those are the two little girl names I hear the most in my area. So it wouldn’t be a viable option for me.
