What do you think of the name Fid?

Okay, so yesterday at work I was talking to myself, and I was calling myself by the shortened version of my username that most people online call me which is Fiddler, but then I shortened that and said Fid, and I was just like. Wow. That feels right. I don’t think I’ve ever felt a name as right as that. So now I’m rethinking everything and maybe spiraling just a bit, because I have a name that feels right in my mouth already (Berry) and another name that feels right when other people say it (Kip) and I don’t mind being called Fiddler but that won’t work irl, but like. Fid. I like that. It’s weird, but I’m weird.

Anyway, vibes, opinions, etc. would be appreciated. I’ve just been thinking about it for a while and need some outside advice/opinions

i wouldn’t recommend it for a child since it feels a little out there, but as a name for yourself i see nothing wrong with it! it instantly reminds me of Sid which grounds it a bit. it also reminds me of Fig. i think Fid totally works as an irl name for yourself - if i saw someone with a nametag that said Fid, for example, i’d think it was interesting for sure but not too odd or anything.

i’d be prepared for people to ask questions about the name when they meet you. i think it coming from your username is really charming, but of course you don’t have to say that if you don’t want to. (i always tell customers who ask at work that my parents are history nerds, and that’s where my name comes from!)

at the end of the day, if this name feels the most right to you, i say go for it. definitely test it out first and see how it feels compared to Kip and Berry. if it sticks, then awesome! if not, no harm done. i think having a name that feels this right is rare and something that you need to pay attention to (:

I love Fid for you. It’s cool, snappy, connects to your love of music. And any name that feels just right like you’re describing is worth wearing.

Fid sounds name-y enough to me!

Fid is cool - kind of snappy, distinctive, fun and musical but serious at the same time?

If someone introduced themselves as Fid, I’d be intrigued by it, but also just accept it, if that makes sense - I guess I mean it sounds name-y?

I agree that I wouldn’t pick it for a child, but if you’re picking it for yourself and feel it’s right, there’s no problem for me! It is a little weird (not a bad thing) but it has a snappy, cool sound and if I met a Fid, I could get on board! I secretly love both [name_f]Fig[/name_f] and Sid-so I think it’s an interesting mix. I like that’s it’s a shortened form of Fiddler since you’re obviously into music, and as a fiddle player myself, I think it’s awesome!
You could do the Starbucks test-order a drink with the name Fid and see how it sounds?
I do have to say I LOVE [name_m]Kip[/name_m] and [name_u]Berry[/name_u] though.
