What do you think of the name Leyland?

I have absolutely fell in love with the name [name]Leyland[/name] for one of my twins and was just wondering what people thought of it. Also his middle name has to be an origin of [name]James[/name] ([name]James[/name], [name]Jamie[/name], [name]Jameson[/name], ect). What combo do you like the best? … I plan on naming his twin sister Nayleigh [name]Ann[/name]/[name]Anne[/name], do you think the names work well together for twins?

[name]Leyland[/name] [name]James[/name] is a handsome name; the most famous [name]Leland[/name] (no Y) was [name]Leland[/name] [name]Stanford[/name], who made his fortune and founded the university by the same name.

To be honest I like it a lot more than Nayleigh. [name]Leyland[/name] is very memorable, whereas the made-up Nayleigh just kind of fades away. It’s comprised of a long A plus the very popular name element -[name]Leigh[/name], and you can just see people saying “what’s her name again? [name]Kayleigh[/name]? [name]Bailee[/name]? [name]Nahla[/name]? [name]Hayley[/name]?”

I dislike the spelling, I think [name]Leland[/name] looks a lot cleaner and more put together. I agree with [name]Blade[/name] about Nayleigh, sorry.

I prefer [name]Leland[/name]. I love it! The Y spelling does connect it more to trendier Nayliegh, but that’s not a great thing imo as I like more classic spellings. They seem easier to live with, not having to spell it out all the time.

Nayleigh falls into that category of always having to spell it out. Plus it reminds me of the word Nail or Nailing which could have negative connotations for sure.

I like it but my first thought when I saw that title was the same as others, it would be a great name with the spelling [name]Leland[/name]. It just seems more straight forward in terms of pronunciation issues to get “lee-land”. The [name]Leyland[/name] spelling makes me want to say “[name]Lay[/name]-land” which just seems wrong in my mind. But it is definitely a great name! =]

Sorry I agree with the above… I prefer [name]Leland[/name]. I keep pronouncing [name]Leyland[/name] as [name]Lay[/name]-land and I don’t know if that is what you want. I also don’t know how to pronounce [name]Nayleigh[/name]. Not sure if it is Nay-lee or Nah-lee.

The only [name]Leland[/name] I know is 34 and female. I do like it but, more for a girl

[name]Leland[/name] is a great name! [name]Leyland[/name] is less great.

[name]Leland[/name] is classic and timeless. [name]Leyland[/name] looks like it’s just adding a ‘y’ to try and be cool in the modern age where a ‘y’ or ‘gh’ or ‘aden’ is added to “trendify” a previously good name.

[name]Leland[/name] is a very solid choice though.

hmmm I was Ok with the spelling [name]Leyland[/name], and I thought it was to be pronounced “[name]Lay[/name]-land”… I like it either pronunciation. Actually I like the pronunciation [name]Lay[/name]-land! Oh well, that’s taste for you. I knew a [name]Leland[/name] (I was sure we pronounced it [name]Lay[/name]-land…) at work and I thought it was a very handsome name for this down-to-earth guy. It’s known, and classic, but under-used.

I’m with the others, not loving Nayleigh, but more because I think it combines awkwardly with Layland for twins, as it is kind of the reverse.

…ya, I love “[name]Leyland[/name]”. Also liked the flow of middle name in Nayleigh [name]Ann[/name]… maybe keep the middle name–if we’ve dissuaded you from Nayleigh, that is ; )
