I really liked this name for my baby who will be born in 2 months, but some of my family were against it, especially my brother, saying it was a weird name. What do you think?
Very pretty and chic! I have a little cousin named [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and she always gets compliments! I can see how the double iambic (stress on the 2nd syllable) names might not be everyone’s taste, but I think it’s cute but not infantile. Also, [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is an underrated first name.
Neither name is weird, I find brothers aren’t the best judges of names.
i think the sounds r a bit repetitive, i prefer jolie marie if anything.
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] is a classic, chic, and romantic name that deserves more love in the first spot as opposed to middle, but in this case I do think [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] sounds better flow wise. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] matches the pretty, happy french vibes of [name_u]Marie[/name_u] very well, but the ie ie endings are a little repetative to my ears. However, it’s a cute and definitely not “weird” name!
Sweet, sophisticated and stylish! [name_u]Marie[/name_u] feels classic; [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] adds a sunny twist
I personally think their final sounds are too rhyme-y…
marie jolie is lovely and delicate! brothers tease, trust us more
I second it being chic! I like it. It’s got a sophisticated feel to it. I also prefer [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] but I like how [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] sounds (I just prefer [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] over Marie).
To my ears it’s too rhyme-y, but I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] would be cute!
How are you pronouncing both names?
MUH-ree or Ma-REE (close to Mari)
JO-lee (like Angelina) or the French Joh-LEE? (And with the French J like a Jz?)
And are they a double first name (ie Marie-Jolie)?
(For now, brothers typically don’t know much about names and also don’t mind being unfairly tough judges).
Edit: just to say that my only concern would be if it’s a double first name - they’re both really pretty but I don’t find it the easiest double name to say first go including because of the at least two different ways to say each of the names. So would need some educating on that! But if it’s a first and second, go for it! It’s lovely and has such a precious meaning.
Firstly it’s your baby so you choose the name YOU love
I adore [name_u]Marie[/name_u] up front she’s elegant, refreshing, romantic and very classic. I think [name_u]Marie[/name_u] deserves to shine up front. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is a pretty name with an unexpected feel especially in the middle name slot. I see what other berries mean about the flow but I love [name_u]Marie[/name_u] upfront so I would stick with [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
I adore the name [name_u]Marie[/name_u], and the combo is so cute!
Can’t see that it’s weird at all. Very nice! Ignore brothers. They know nothing about names. Besides it’s your baby, so it’s your choice.
[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry!!
I really like this name. It sounds traditional and timeless but spunky and playful at the same time.
I think [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is an underused first name. I know a girl named [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who is in 7th grade at my school. I also like [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] just as much as [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].
As for your brother, ignore him! [name_f]My[/name_f] brother has no taste in names, so I ignore all his opinions. After all, it’s your girl and you can choose her name. I personally think it’s beautiful!
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] sounds super chic! Anyway, the name is yours to choose. I really love it!
