I like it. To me it has a northeastern, preppy feel.
Totally agree with your description: sweet and powerful!
To me it’s very Irish granny (no offence intended). The only Maureens I’ve met have been Irish women around my parents’ age or older. There’s nothing “wrong” with it though. It’s not popular nowadays, which could be a good thing if you’re looking for an unusual name.
Went to high school with a girl who’s name was [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] but she only went by [name_u]Mo[/name_u].
I thought it sounded dated when I found out that was her full name. This was 5-10 years ago!
Edit: oops probably should’ve added that doesn’t make it a bad name! I totally agree with pp. it’s uncommon which is awesome
Im gonna use maureen for an middle name not a first name. I forgot to say that ahaha
Middle name spot it’s perfect!! Mine is [name_f]Irene[/name_f] so very similar sound and I love it. People don’t expect it usually they’re used to [name_u]Marie[/name_u] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f]!
And do think the name [name_u]June[/name_u] fits to [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]?
Yes! ([name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/June is on my list so I’ve thought about this name LOTS lol).
I like the combo of short name and longer middle! I think [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] could be difficult to pair because to the Mmm sound but I think it goes very well with [name_u]June[/name_u] since it’s so definitive and doesn’t run on into the middle name. If you like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] with the nn [name_u]June[/name_u] I love:
Juniper [name_f]Maureen[/name_f].
However I know the nature-ish names aren’t everyone’s style. Either way I think it fits
thank you so much! I think we have kind of the same style of names. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
I like how it sounds Reminds me [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_m]Robinson[/name_m] from Lost in Space, who’s a good association.
I agree with @choupette . Nothing wrong with it, but the only Maureens I know are older
Anything goes on middle names.
Having grown up in the 60’s and 70’s, there were a lot of Maureens around, but I doubt there would be many babies being named that now.
To me, that makes the name feel fresher on a baby than an older woman.
I also think of flame-headed beauty Maureen O’Hara, which is never a bad association.
PS And I love June Maureen!
Same! Except that was umm 15ish years ago and it probably sounded “dated” then too
It makes an excellent and unexpected middle:)
For me it’s very much the name of an older woman, those I know are generally 60 plus and I’m not sure it’s really come back around yet. I think it’s very dated and I struggle to find nicknames for it that aren’t [name_u]Mo[/name_u]. Not a fan I’m afraid!
im using it for a middle name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like that neither?
I think it all comes down to association and for me I only know elderly Maureens, so it’s just one of those names I can’t see on a child. I know someone my age (30) with [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] as a middle name, it was an honour name I believe, and she hates it so much she pretends she has no middle name and asked the vicar not to say it out loud at her wedding… But everyone’s taste is different so if you like it, don’t worry what other people think! Go with what you love!
I think it’s fine as a middle name. [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] is nice. I would also suggest [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Maura[/name_f].
I like it, it has a smart feel to it that is almost Victorian. I don’t know if I would use it as a first name, but a lovely middle! [name_m]Maurie[/name_m] or [name_u]Mo[/name_u] could be a nickname nevertheless. A bit of a grandmother name, but all old ladies were once little!
