There’a a little girl I know called [name]Pilar[/name] [name]Sophie[/name], and when I first heard the name I though “that’s a bit odd”, but as my daughter has gotten to know her, I couldn’t imagine her with any other name!
[name]Pilar[/name] and her ltitle brother Column. Sorry but I think it’s utterly ridiculous. [name]Just[/name] too much. You might like it because you know the kid, like I went to school with a girl called [name]Star[/name] and thought that was okay because I was five, but [name]Pilar[/name] is something else altogether.
I know a girl named [name]Pilar[/name] (prounced to rhyme with [name]Star[/name]) and I have to admit I thought it was odd. [name]Both[/name] syllables seem to be quite harsh when pronounced this way. I thought it might be odd to me simply because this was the first time that I had heard the name, but then I remembered that I know a girl named [name]Afton[/name] and her name eventually grew on me (I kind of quite like it now) whereas [name]Pilar[/name] did not. It is mms, but I really like girly, feminine names generally.
I like [name]Pilar[/name], I worked with a woman named [name]Pilar[/name] last year (she was the principal of the school) It isn’t my favourite Spanish name of all-time or anything, but it’s nice.
Pretty sure milliemm is thinking of the English word “pillar” and not the [name]Marian[/name] devotional name.
[name]Do[/name] you realize [name]Pilar[/name] is pronounced pee-LAR? Yes, it is the Spanish word for pillar (correct English spelling), but it is also a legitimate name in Spanish that has been used for centuries. It refers to an apparition of the Virgin [name]Mary[/name] (Nuestra [name]Senora[/name] del [name]Pilar[/name]) in Spain. I also think it is a really beautiful name. Maybe because I live in a city with many people from Latin [name]America[/name], I’ve met several women named [name]Pilar[/name] and it has never seemed odd to me. It’s sophisticated.
I love [name]Pilar[/name]! Back in my high school spanish class, we all had to choose our very own spanish names from a list of about 50 names. I chose [name]Pilar[/name] because it sounds so beautiful and unique compared to the other names.
I would probably consider it if I spoke Spanish and if I was religious. Otherwise it wouldn’t work for me. I don’t really like it, but it is really different from my own culture/heritage etc. There is nothing wrong with it though.
I just realized who I replied to ugh, duped again (considering I pointed out her fakery on the Announcements board the other day). I hate having to pay attention to the poster and not just the names in the post when I reply.
what? They took down my announcement…
that why i started this thread, because i want to use the name for my baby. You havent been duped, im genuine now.
What? I’m ot making anything up! Why would I make something up so simple as this? If you are going to question my judgement of names, then I would appreciate it if you don’t post on any of my threads in the future.
If you have two children named [name]Mirielle[/name] and [name]Annelise[/name], why does one thread say [name]Annelise[/name]'s middle name is [name]Sapphire[/name] and another say her middle name is [name]Sophia[/name]?
