It is the name of a little girl in an Australian documentry. At first I thought it was a bit strange, but it has really grown on me! What do you think of it?
If you are interested you can find information about the documentry at www.abc.net.au/life . It is a longitudinal study about child development.
In the US “shine” has a history of being used as a derogatory nn for African Americans, it’s pretty outdated now but it’s not something I would ever use as a name or nn.
It causes me to think of… [name]Flower[/name] children… The horror film The Shining… And moonshine liquor… Not sure those are positive or negative- just impressions!
There was a guy named Shine at my summer school a couple years ago- he’d be 16 or 17 now. I thought it was pretty cool, don’t recall anyone thinking it was weird. He was smart and, yes, always cheerful so it worked.
I knew a [name]Sunshine[/name], Shine is a little bit Hunger games [name]IMO[/name] (With names like [name]Marvel[/name] and [name]Glimmer[/name].) But it isn’t terrible.
