Would appreciate thoughts on the name Zady. We like it a lot, as a name that feels international, unisex, pretty and uncommon. Since it is rare, the internet has turned up some odd and conflicting meanings/connections. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a negative reaction to the name, and if so can you articulate why? Thanks!
Is it pronounced ZAY-dee or ZAH-dee? I personally prefer the former prn, though I would spell it [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]. If you’re going for the second, I’d say Zaddy looks better.
If you are going for the first pronunciation, I have to say that I really like it, possibly more than [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. It’s less popular, with a punkish/bold vibe which I find really charming.
It feels a bit nicknameish to me but I actually really like it! It’s like a sassy version of sweet [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I agree with PP though that if pronounced like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], the spelling of [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] helps clarify that.
To me, I do think it is a bit nickname-y. BUT, I do think it is cute. Zady reminds me of a spunky version of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and a girl version of [name_u]Brady[/name_u].
I agree with pps that I’d spell it [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], it still has a unisex sound but it looks feminine rather than Zady which does remind you of [name_u]Brady[/name_u], [name_u]Cody[/name_u] and other boys names.

I love it spelled [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]. Simply because I dislike how Y’all look written out. Cute name.
Pronounced Zay-dee (like “[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]” with a Z instead of the S). We’re partial to the ‘y’ because everyone in our family has a ‘y’ in our first names, so it feels like a nice way to be cohesive and not too cutesy. Also, the ‘ie’ strikes me as much more nicknamey. I wouldn’t think to pronounce it like “daddy” without it being spelled Zaddy, but it’s good to be aware others may. Thanks for everyone’s input. Please keep it coming if you have more thoughts.
