What do you think of these guilty pleasure girl names?

I have a list of new names that I like, some of which are more guilty pleasure and not my style. I really doubt I’d use these, but I was curious what you thought of these individually.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’ (Really the one I probably WOULD use!)
Haisley
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’
Chapel
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_u]Langley[/name_u]
Chapel
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]

I find the following to be the most usable that I like.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] - this is charming and seems on trend with floral names.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] - like the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] as it makes it more accessible
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - I actually really like this one, something about it just feels spunky.

I love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]! [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is nice too.

These all sound like names girls would give themselves on their cutesy aesthetic blogs and instagram accounts and I don’t hate that.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’ - she wishes she could pull off a green overall dress and black platform mary janes. wears her hair in a bob but doesn’t have the face for it.

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’ - she smells like books.

Haisley - she wears bandaids for the aesthetic and smokes about 75 percent of her menthol cigarette before putting it out and depositing it into the nearest trashcan.

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’ - oral fixation and sweet tooth. goes to the bank just to take a handful of lollipops that she leaves in the center console of her silver 2003 [name_m]Chevy[/name_m] Tracker.

Chapel - has white lace tattoos on her shoulders. vegan. her boyfriend has a manbun and appears far too grimy to deserve her, and yet…

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - says she’s a lesbian but dedicates too much time to making gay male fan edits on the internet.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - wishes she could dress like a 1920’s flapper girl but just shops at forever 21 instead. only uses eyeliner and always has it winged.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - she has a lot of unconventional piercings and has fairy lights and hanging plants in her bathroom.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - was big into horses as a little girl. wants mason jars and burlap as a wedding theme.

I knew people with some of these names growing up which makes them feel very usable to me.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]- this was the name of my childhood best friend’s mom. She was the sweetest woman and her name suited her perfectly.

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]- I went to school with a [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]. She was really outgoing and vibrant.

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]- this was the name of my swim instructor when I was a junior lifeguard. She had solid leadership skills and was very graceful.

If you have a tumblr I would genuinely follow it for this A+ commentary content.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’ - [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is so pretty! It’s nms, but I would say its totally usable! Both [name_f]Nola[/name_f] and [name_u]Noli[/name_u] are adorable nicknames, but I wouldn’t like the potential [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Lia[/name_f] could be a nn!

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’ - Part of me thinks [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] is a little ‘chavvy’ but the other part of me loves it. She is sweet and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is even sweetie!

Haisley - this one feels kind of made up. But if [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] are names I don’t see why Haisley can’t. All names must’ve been invented at some point right?! It also kind of makes me think of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’ - [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] does come across a little ‘chavvy’ to me, but [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is really sweet and I like [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] as a nn too.

Chapel - I can’t really see this as being a name. I think the girl would have to be really sweet and innocent to pull it off.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! It’s spunky yet cute, and [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], and I suppose even [name_f]Lola[/name_f] could be nicknames!

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - too old ladyish imo

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - I really like this. I suppose it is a GP but I like this style.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - Another one I really like, and Revie or [name_f]Reva[/name_f] are sweet nns

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is my favorite and I think it is the most wearable. To my ear, it sounds elegant and streamlined.

My faves are [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] nm [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] nm [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. I’ve loved the name [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] for a long time, and I used to golf with a girl named [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] with the nm [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and she was wonderful.

I’m partial to [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nm [name_u]Noli[/name_u] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], but there are similar names that I’d much more prefer.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u]'s okay once I got over the initial thought of the country, I’d rather it be a boy name though, or have the nm [name_f]Holly[/name_f].

The rest, I’m not as partial too. There’s so many -ley names that it’s getting to be a bit much, and there are so many that sound a bit more pleasing to my ears. Chapel and [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] sound a bit too directly related to church, and I would much prefer strange/uncommon/unused biblical names.

I agree with silversky109. They are all pretty awful names.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], Chapel and [name_u]Holland[/name_u] are all morbidly obese.
[name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] are chain-smoking neighbors in the trailer park that start drinking [name_m]Miller[/name_m] Lite at 11am while the kids down Mountain Dew.
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]’ mom has a grill on her teeth.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] has a lisp.
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] sleeps till noon everyday.

I think magnolia and holland are cute, but might have fairly plain nicknames ([name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Holly[/name_f]). However that might make them more appealing if you want a name that is unusual with the option of fitting in!

I’ve known a [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], & [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. With [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] I just think of the car, but nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] would make it more usable to me.
The [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] I know is a baby, but I imagine a happy, fun loving, & unconventional teen or adult who loves dancing & being outside.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’ - I want to love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], but it does seem to be a bit too flowery. I think the right personality could pull it off though & [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is a great nn!
Haisley - I’m not a fan of this one… I just think of hazing someone.
Chapel - A friend of a friend is named Chapel. It seems to work for her.
[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - Cute!
[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - Too close to gangly.
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - I want to love this one, but the sound is a little strange to me for a name. I like it as a middle name though!

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’-I absolutely love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. It was on my list for a long time.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’-I think it is different and pretty.
Haisley-[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t really like this one because it sounds like someone is making [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] different by adding a letter.
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’-I think it is okay and I really like the nickname of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
Chapel-It sounds okay, but I wouldn’t use it.
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]-I like this name.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]-I think that [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is really pretty and doesn’t sound too old to me.
[name_u]Langley[/name_u]-Sounds harsh and I don’t really like it.
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]-Pretty, but I personally wouldn’t use.

The only one that I think counts as a guilty pleasure is Chapel! All of the others I think are just unusual/you might need to be a bit brave but I think they’re usable.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]: I’m not a fan of the -ag- sound, so this is just one of the names I wouldn’t ever use ([name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]). And I’m not a fan of the nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] for that reason. I do really like [name_f]Lia[/name_f], but would find another name to use to get to [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a nn.

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]: When I was a kid I named one of my little dolls [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]! I wouldn’t use it now, as it makes me think of a very old person, & the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] has always made me think of the [name_f]Libby[/name_f]'s vegetables ads.

Haisley: I think of a combination of the weather condition of haze & the pattern paisley.

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]: I like the way the name [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] looks & sounds, although I wouldn’t use it as there are many names I like more. It’s quite creative to use [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as a nn…I never thought of that, but it does fit well.

Chapel: Too much of a word or surname feel for me…there was Nurse Chapel in the original [name_f]Star[/name_f] Trek series.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u]: There’s a very old YA book (probably from the late '50s/early '60s) in which the protagonist becomes a model. The agency she’s w/names all of their models after places, & that’s what [name_u]Holland[/name_u] makes me think of. I do love the name [name_f]Holly[/name_f].

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]: For me it’s definitely an older-type name, but it’s got an upbeat sound & lovely meaning. I might use it for a middle name, especially as it’s a nod to [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables ([name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]).

[name_u]Langley[/name_u]: There’s a series of cozy mysteries featuring a grandmother who accidentally becomes a [name_f]CIA[/name_f] agent & as such the name [name_u]Langley[/name_u] just makes me think of the location of the [name_f]CIA[/name_f] HQ.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]: This would probably be a guilty pleasure for me…it sounds & looks pretty & I like the meaning, but I’m not sure I’d actually use it.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’…I know a [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] (sister of [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f]) and a [name_f]Nola[/name_f] (sister of [name_m]Nickolas[/name_m]). I also know a senior citizen named [name_f]Nola[/name_f] so I consider this name a revival.

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’ (Really the one I probably WOULD use!) I think this is OK, but [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] suggests [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] Valance, the man in the country western ballard.

Haisley …[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] with an H. Why?

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’… lots of little Sadies now, but since I prefer a “real” given name, I’d use [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]. though [name_f]Sabre[/name_f] (pn say-bra) is more my style.

Chapel… from the TV show “Breaking Amish”? Not a fan. I’d go for [name_m]Chapin[/name_m] and use for a boy, nn Chappy.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u]… hard for me to hear without automatically finishing ‘[name_u]Holland[/name_u] Tunnel’. As a name, I don’t find it very “musical, lyrical”…or however one would say, it doesn’t “sing” for me. It IS possible for your little darling to become a fat pimply teen.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]… love, but best with at least a 2 syllable last name.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u]… [name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_f]Air[/name_f] force base, [name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_m]Field[/name_m]. Save it for your son, or at least name her [name_m]Langlee[/name_m]. But this sounds like Lang [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (Chinese?)

Chapel … guess you really do like “Breaking Amish”.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] … is on my own GP list, but probably best as a mn. I’m not fond of [name_f]Vera[/name_f].

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]- I don’t like it.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]- I like it. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is adorable!
Haisley- I’d just go with [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]!
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]- All I see is the car. [name_m]Just[/name_m] go with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
Chapel- It’s a building not a name!
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]- Adorable but I wouldn’t personally use it.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]- I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] better.
[name_u]Langley[/name_u]- I do not like it, but it would be a little better on a boy.
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]- I ABSOLUTELY [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] THIS!

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] - I have a friend named [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. Personally I love the nickname [name_f]Nola[/name_f] more than [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], but either way it is a pretty and totally useable name.

[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] - I generally dislike word-names, but [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is such a cute nickname!

Haisley - It’s a little too trendy for my style, and it reminds me of singer [name_u]Halsey[/name_u].

[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] - I don’t like the name [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a nice name by itself.

Chapel - NMS

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - I really like [name_u]Holland[/name_u]! It’s more of a GP name for me too but I can totally see someone rocking this name, maybe because it’s already partialy associated with [name_u]Holland[/name_u] Rhoden to me!

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - It reminds me of the girl in Littlest [name_f]Pet[/name_f] Shop, because my little sister watches it, but it has a cheerful meaning and sound so I quite like it!

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - It reminds me of something long and dangly; I don’t really like it.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - Again I don’t like word names, but the sound of [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] is kind of okay.

Sorry if any of these are “too” honest! [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion!

I like:
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_u]Noli[/name_u]’
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Libby[/name_f]’ - super cute
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’ - I like how dramatically religious this sounds
[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - this is so elegant to me
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - gorgeous
[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - probably for a boy though

I take serious issue with your descriptions - these are not only insulting but also offensive. I’m honestly troubled with the fact that you find it so easy to write names off as belonging to someone morbidly obese or neglectful, alcoholic parents. Especially as someone with a name on your list who does not fit into the box you have described.
