My brother [name_m]Josh[/name_m] and his wife [name_f]Julia[/name_f] are having a baby girl in [name_u]July[/name_u]! They have one son named [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m], who is an energetic five year old that is super excited to meet his baby sister. Currently, they are searching for that perfect name for their daughter. I thought I would post on here because you guys are always so helpful!
[name_m]Josh[/name_m] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] like these names so far:
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] “[name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]”
They are searching for a name that isn’t too common, but they want definitely want what [name_f]Julia[/name_f] calls a “cute name.” They are definitely open for suggestions if anyone has any! Which names are your favorites?
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Lily[/name_f]- Unfortunately this name just isn’t my taste, [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] without the nickname [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would probably be unavoidable. And I just think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] while cute as a child sounds too dainty with age. (for my taste!)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]/[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I think make the best sibset of the choices, although I actually prefer the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]! The set I think works better as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is such a great name all around: feminine, strong, traditional, and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is sounds so much fresher than [name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f], or [name_f]Beth[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]/[name_f]Layla[/name_f]/[name_f]Lila[/name_f]: This is just meh for me (and I agree, doesn’t quite fit)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “[name_u]Josie[/name_u]”- Such a great name, and I love the reference to [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women. Underused, feminine, and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is such a fun nickname for a littler girl. And bonus, if she grows up and doesn’t feel as feminine as her name she can go by the fun tomboyish [name_u]Jo[/name_u], if she chooses that suits her better. I love names that give kids some options with their identity.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]: This is pretty, and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] sound nice
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]: This is pretty, but I don’t think it goes well with [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
My vote would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as the runner up.
I am a huge fan of vintage names, but [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is sooo popular these days. What about [name_f]Lilabet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] instead? [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is lovely for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] could always be called [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f] are all lovely too. I would cross off [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] since they don’t fit and all double “l” names are on the rise popularity wise anyway. I woudl stick to one of those because the choices are very nice names! But if you would like other suggestions, my picks for you would be:
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f] (another way to get to that name you mentioned above that doesn’t fit anywhere else)
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] - [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - [name_f]Emme[/name_f], [name_f]Emmie[/name_f], [name_f]Mellie[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f] (pronounced “leena”)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - Fliss, Lissy
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f] - [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Genie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Junie[/name_f]
Liviana - [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Livie[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] - [name_f]Madge[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Lindy[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] - [name_f]Sera[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] - [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], [name_f]Zanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] - [name_u]Vale[/name_u], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f]
They are working with a really nice list. I like pretty much all of the names, but I do think the majority of the names are very common. If that is not something that they want (as you mention in your post), then I think they need to expand their search. If they do not want something too common, i would exclude [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] (very popular) and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ([name_f]Lily[/name_f] is very popular) from the list. I’d probably also exclude the [name_f]Leah[/name_f]/[name_f]Layla[/name_f]/[name_f]Lila[/name_f] type names as they all sort of meld together and they will hear that name come up a lot.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] / [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] / [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - Nice classic names. To me, maybe a bit boring? There are a tonne of young [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]'s out there right now.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “[name_u]Josie[/name_u]” - My favourite of the list. To me, this is just such an elegant name. And the nickname potential is great and open.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] “[name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]” - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Not as keen on the [name_f]Evie[/name_f] - those are just everywhere as all of the Evelyns/Evangelines get shorted.
