What do you think of this name?

Hey Berries! I have recently started watching the show Charmed and there is a main character whose name is [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] but she goes by [name_f]Prue[/name_f]. I’m not sure how I feel about [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] as a full name, but I absolutely love the nickname [name_f]Prue[/name_f]. So I was wondering, what are your opinions on both [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] and [name_f]Prue[/name_f] and are there any “full names” other than [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] that [name_f]Prue[/name_f] could stand for? Thanks!

[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is a little too much [name_f]IMO[/name_f], but [name_f]Prue[/name_f] is a really cute NN. I can’t think of any names that could work for NN [name_f]Prue[/name_f] other than [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] except for [name_f]Prunella[/name_f], but that’s totally unusable.

[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] feels very stuffy and old-fashioned (and not in a good way) to me. I wish I could like it, but I just don’t see the appeal at all.

I think [name_f]Pru[/name_f] (this spelling!) is adorable, though! My best friend used to babysit a little girl named [name_f]Prune[/name_f] (both my friend and the little girl lived in [name_u]Paris[/name_u], so it was much more stylish than here. In [name_m]French[/name_m], “prune” means “plum”, not, well… prune. haha), and when she was made fun of for it, she insisted on going by [name_f]Pru[/name_f], which we both found adorable! Other than [name_f]Prune[/name_f] or [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], the only thing I can really think of is a combination nn–like something short for P______ Ru____. Like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], or [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_u]Rue[/name_u], or [name_f]Portia[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], or [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], etc.

Good luck!

I think there are much prettier -nce ending names than [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] out there; [name_f]Temperance[/name_f], [name_f]Esperance[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. I’m coming up short on a different full name for nn [name_f]Prue[/name_f]. What about [name_u]True[/name_u] instead? A great name that could stand alone for a girl or a boy.
