We love these names for a boy, but have settled on [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (will go by [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) for a girl. We like the idea of a classic name, with a fun twist.
My husband feels like [name_m]Draper[/name_m] evokes a classic northeast feel. I feel like it may feel a bit Southern.
[name_m]Axel[/name_m] is cool but does it scream rock-n-roll?
[name_m]Draper[/name_m] reminds me of Mad Men and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] reminds me of rock-n-roll. Neither in a bad way. Not really my style, but I’d go with [name_m]Axel[/name_m].
[name_m]Draper[/name_m] makes me think of Mad Men so it kinda gives it an old fashioned feel.
[name_m]Axel[/name_m] makes me think of ‘The Middle’ and the character named [name_m]Axel[/name_m]. That being said I love the name. Before I found out I was having a girl it was my number one choice for a boy, but it got disliked by everyone including DH.
[name_m]Draper[/name_m] just makes think of curtains draped over an armchair
I love [name_m]Axel[/name_m] though. I suppose it is quite rock and roll, but thats not a bad thing
Also [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is getting a little more popular now. So the associations with [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] may not be such a biggie.
[name_m]Draper[/name_m] makes me think of Mad Men. [name_m]Axel[/name_m] makes me think of [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], Guns N’ Roses and the 80s, but in a good way.
I agree with PPs that [name_m]Draper[/name_m] just brings to mind images of curtains, and I hate to be that person, but I don’t like the fact it includes the word ‘rape’ in it. Doesn’t elicit any Southern charm for me. I feel like [name_m]Drake[/name_m], or even [name_m]Draco[/name_m] would be a more wearable, similar name.
[name_m]Axel[/name_m] I’m warming up to. It sounds like an edgy boy name.
I agree with [name_m]Draper[/name_m] conjuring curtains. It doesn’t really make sense to me as a first name, but I realize there are usually geographical differences for this sort of thing…
…which brings me to [name_m]Axel[/name_m]. Having [name_m]German[/name_m] family, [name_m]Axel[/name_m] brings NO rock’n’roll to mind for me, rather a middle-aged man with a bad haircut and wearing sandals with socks. But again, if you’re not in Germany, this image probably will have no bearing on your little boy.
[name_m]Don[/name_m] [name_m]Draper[/name_m] and [name_m]Ax[/name_m]'l [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
The association for [name_m]Draper[/name_m] is much stronger for me though, as [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is a strong name with history and a great meaning. Not sure about [name_m]Draper[/name_m], I just don’t have any other association for it.
