We find out next week if we’re having a baby boy or a girl in [name_u]November[/name_u]. We made the mistake of telling our very family our name ideas and they’re reactions weren’t positive and that’s causing us to second guess ourselves.
So we like your honest opinions on these two names please. 
Girl:
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
Boy:
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (calling him [name_u]August[/name_u])

I think this is great and it’s surprised me to see [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] in the first name spot! I think the flow would be better as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] but [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is great too. It feels so rich and just lovely, but not pretentious.

I love this. The name [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] nn [name_u]August[/name_u] is great and I love the flow, especially how the long [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is finished with the short and snappy [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
There isn’t anything wrong with these names at all and I don’t know why they didn’t receive positive reactions!
Those are both lovely! I really like the repeated letters in Pearrl [name_f]El[/name_f]eanor, and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] ‘[name_u]August[/name_u]’ is super handsome. Plus lots of NN options there, you have [name_u]August[/name_u], Auggie, [name_u]Gus[/name_u], and AJ.
I’d stick to your guns and either 1) stop talking about names with your family at all or 2) once you find out what you’re having, refer to the baby by name for the rest of your pregnancy, maybe it will help them get used to it. Either way once they actually meet your adorable baby they won’t be as likely to poo-poo the name. Good luck!

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is pretty in theory but I’m not a huge fan of the flow. I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] has a nicer flow but I do love seeing [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a first name.
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is handsome! I’m not a fan of [name_u]August[/name_u] as a nickname, though, since [name_u]August[/name_u] feels like just a full name.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] both options, especially [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in the middle. [name_u]August[/name_u] is also a great nickname.
They are both lovely choices, stay strong and faithful to your chosen names mom and dad! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] are gorgeous!
Gorgeous ! I love them both. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a first name is so pretty. And jack in the middle is really different, sounds fantastic. I like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] with nn [name_u]August[/name_u] better than straight up [name_u]August[/name_u] for a first.

I had originally thought I liked [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a middle name more than a first but my beautiful wife was very persistent that [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] be the first name.
As for [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] instead of simply [name_u]August[/name_u] I liked the strength of [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] for professional settings and the style of [name_u]August[/name_u] for everyday life.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! And [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is sweet enough, but nms. I like stronger, more dramatic names for girls. If you love it–that’s all that really matters.
I love both of these names! I would definitely use them, regardless of family reaction.
We found out last week it’s a boy, – [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] “[name_u]August[/name_u]” [name_m]Jack[/name_m] – will be here in [name_u]November[/name_u]!

But why name him [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] if your calling him [name_u]August[/name_u]? It’s a perfectly nice name
^I agree that if you’re going to just call him [name_u]August[/name_u], just name him [name_u]August[/name_u].
Other than that, not particularly my style, but perfectly fine names. That being said, I’m not even a little bit surprised that your families hated on them. [name_f]Non[/name_f]-name fans don’t take kindly to anything other than, like, [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Name your baby what YOU want though, and don’t worry about them. They’ll come around once the baby is born and they realize getting over it is their only option
