What do you think the trends for 2013 will be?

I was inspired by the new blog post, basically titled 14 Name Trends We See for 2013. (This isn’t the exact title)
I was wondering what you berries think some popular trends will be for the up-coming year? The blog post expected a rise in [name]Sandy[/name], and other similar names like [name]Storm[/name], [name]Dune[/name], [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Sandra[/name]… and so on because of the recent Hurricane that effected [name]America[/name]. Meaningful place names were also chosen as what could be predicted to be an upcoming trend for the coming year, like [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon’s newborn son, Tennesse. (Sorry for any wrong spellings!)

Can’t wait to hear your ideas!! Xx

I have 2 names picked out for my son, both with personal connections. [name]One[/name] of them ([name]Xander[/name]) I was unsure of because it’s fairly high in the rankings and combined with similar names, like [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Zander[/name], it felt like it might be too popular. The other ([name]Wiley[/name]) I felt good about because it’s outside the charts, but didn’t feel too weird or complicated. When I read that article and got to the W names section and saw [name]Wylie[/name] on there, it drove me nuts for a second. But it’s not like it’s going to go from outside the top 1000 into the top 200 in a year’s time.

Some of the trends, like place names, I can see catching on. Fortunately there are enough cities, states and countries that using a place name in general doesn’t have to mean using the same name as a ton of other people. I probably would be wary of [name]Etta[/name] though. It’s got an old-school feel that’s appealing and seems like a natural progression along the [name]Emily[/name]-[name]Emma[/name]-[name]Ella[/name] line, as the article pointed out.

Oh, I would think it odd to use a place name from the place you actually live. If I’d stayed living in Pennsylvania, I’d consider using the names [name]Raleigh[/name] or [name]Carolina[/name], but now that I’m back living in NC, it would feel awkward paying tribute to a place where I actually am.
