What does everyone think of this nature name?

I heard this name on a [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand television show and a little googling brings up nearly nothing about this name - it’s a type of bird and sometimes used as a name in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand, that’s all I could get.

Anyways, the name is Tui. pronounced like the number 2 and the letter e.

Opinions? Any negative associations I’m not thinking of? Is it useable over here in the US? Too nicknamey? If so, any longer names this could be a nickname for?

Other girl names I like include [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. Would Tui fit in or no?

It’s not really my style but I think it’s quite sweet  it’s a very out-there name without being ridiculous and I think it does fit in with you other favourites though it’s definitely the most obscure.
The only negative association I can think of is “number two” as in going to the bathroom, but that’s fairly juvenile.
Judging by what I’ve heard of US names I would say its useable (I’m UK and our trends seem to be a little different) though it is a little nicknamey.

Could be a nickname for:

  • [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
  • [name_m]Toulouse[/name_m]
  • [name_f]Petunia[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Tulia[/name_f]
  • [name_u]Tully[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Twyla[/name_f]

Tui is intriguing! I think the pronunciation is pretty intuitive, and I rather like it with [name_f]Zora[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], actually! I think [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], and Tui would be adorable. Other bird names are in, so why not that? I would use something very long and romantic and flowy. My first idea was Tui [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], which I really like, but something like Tui [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], Tui [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], Tui [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], or Tui [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] or Tui [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] or Tui [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] would be fantastic.

Good luck!

I liked the name a lot when I heard it, too… only the Top of The [name_u]Lake[/name_u] plot kind of wrecked it for me.
