What goes best with our family...

We are having an extremely hard time coming up with a name for our little girl. We still have 4 months to go, but have no idea really. So, here’s a little background…our last name is Burtner. Mine is [name]Erin[/name], husband: [name]Doug[/name], daughter: [name]Charlotte[/name]. Dog, [name]Indie[/name]. If it were a boy: [name]Wes[/name] was going to be the name. What name do you think fits best with the info I gave you. I have no idea what this child will be like-but this pregnancy has been a little different from my last. My last was easy - and [name]Charlotte[/name] is just that-really laid back and easy going. This has been relatively easy, but I have had more heartburn, and this one is a HUGE mover. I am guessing this is going to be a child with some spunk. …so how will we sign our [name]Christmas[/name] cards next year…? [name]Merry[/name] [name]Christmas[/name] love, [name]Doug[/name], [name]Erin[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], _______ and [name]Indie[/name]

Here’s our list: (yes…it is HUGE). Thanks SO much in advance!

[name]Katherine[/name] ([name]Kate[/name])
[name]Elliot[/name] (elle)

My favorites from your list are:

The ones I like best with [name]Charlotte[/name] are [name]Josephine[/name] (love the fun nn [name]Josie[/name], too!) and [name]Vivienne[/name]

I like [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] / [name]Lucille[/name] , [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] from your list to pair with your daughter’s name [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] has an antique charm about it that these names possess as well.

I love [name]Charlotte[/name]! Here are the ones I think go best:

[name]Elenore[/name] (though I much prefer [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Elinor[/name])

These also go very well:

Here are the ones I think you should eliminate:

[name]Gwen[/name]: too nicknamey
[name]Caroline[/name]: gorgeous, but [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are the same name (both come from [name]Charles[/name]).
[name]Emerson[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Marlow[/name], [name]Saylor[/name], [name]Sloan[/name], [name]Avery[/name], and [name]Elliot[/name]: These don’t fit with [name]Charlotte[/name] at all-- I’d assume most of them were [name]Charlotte[/name]'s brothers. And they aren’t nearly as classic and elegant.
[name]Kit[/name]: This seems like it could be a nickname for [name]Charlotte[/name], so I think it’s too close. You could do [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kit[/name].
[name]Edie[/name]: Too nickname, but [name]Edith[/name] or [name]ED[/name] initials ([name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]) would work.
[name]Bea[/name]: Also too much of a nickname, but [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] would be absolutely gorgeous. [name]Bee[/name] could be a nickname for any name starting with B as well.

I’m going to vote for [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Simone[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name].

Oh fun!! My favourite type of name to go with [name]Charlotte[/name] would have to be another feminine classic. So off your list my top choices would be:

[name]Elenore[/name] (I prefer the [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Elinor[/name] spellings but either way I like the name a lot)
[name]Katherine[/name] ([name]Kate[/name]) (Why not the nn [name]Kit[/name] since you listed that as a separate name
[name]Nora[/name] ([name]Eleonora[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name] would be adorable!! Does [name]Charlotte[/name] go by a nn? [name]Lottie[/name]? [name]Charley[/name]?)
[name]Margot[/name] (I would include [name]Margaret[/name] in this list but it seems a little more buttoned up that [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Margot[/name] has way more spunk in my opinion which may be suited to this child!)
[name]Grace[/name] (possibly not quite a strong enough name though if you’re looking for spunk)
[name]Fay[/name] (see above)

Names I like but not with [name]Charlotte[/name]:

[name]Ellen[/name] - seems a little bland but could make a nice middle name?
[name]Gwen[/name] - see above
[name]Margaret[/name] - seems a little too proper and middle aged next to the pretty and youthful [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] - [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are both feminine forms of [name]Charles[/name] so it would seem strange to me to use both
[name]Quinn[/name] - I like [name]Quinn[/name] but it has a totally different style to [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Kit[/name] - As I said, this would make a lovely nn for [name]Katherine[/name] but I don’t like it on it’s own with [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Etta[/name] - I adore [name]Etta[/name] but since the “et” sound is in [name]Charlotte[/name], and it’s more of a nick name, it doesn’t seem right with [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Monica[/name] - This is nice but I don’t love it and it seems “older” than [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Martine[/name] - see above!
[name]Marlow[/name] - lovely but trendy in comparison to [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Vivian[/name] - gorgeous but a little too exotic for [name]Charlotte[/name] I think. I prefer [name]Vivian[/name] with [name]Charlotte[/name], but I prefer [name]Vivienne[/name] overall.
[name]Bea[/name] - [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Phoebe[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name] would all be so wonderful with [name]Charlotte[/name], but I don’t think a nickname name would work as a sibling to [name]Charlotte[/name]

Names I just don’t like:

[name]Carolyn[/name] - I don’t like the trendy [name]Lyn[/name] ending with the classic [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Bronwyn[/name] - I’m Welsh so this name has a dated feel to me, but maybe it doesn’t in the US?
[name]Emerson[/name] - I don’t really like names ending in “son” on boys because they mean “son of”. And this one seems particularly trendy. [name]How[/name] about [name]Emmeline[/name] or [name]Emily[/name]? [name]Both[/name] would be lovely with [name]Charlotte[/name].
[name]Pauline[/name] - seems very middle aged and dated. I prefer [name]Paulina[/name] but still don’t love it.
[name]Roxie[/name] - I’d like this as a nn for [name]Roxanne[/name] or [name]Roxanna[/name]?
[name]Lucille[/name] - I much prefer [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Lucia[/name] with [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Lucille[/name]'s dated to me.
[name]Maxine[/name] - not a fan
[name]Saylor[/name] - not a fan at all, I don’t believe it will stand the test of time like [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Sloan[/name] - see above!
[name]Felice[/name] - not a fan. [name]Felicia[/name] or [name]Felicity[/name] would be lovely though. I particularly like [name]Felicity[/name] with [name]Charlotte[/name]!
[name]Edie[/name] - [name]Edith[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] would be stunning, I don’t like just [name]Edie[/name] though.
[name]Elin[/name] - I prefer [name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] - too unisex for [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name] (elle) - see above!

My absolute favourites with [name]Charlotte[/name] if you want a name with “spunk” are:

[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kit[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Elenore[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Eleonora[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Emily[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Roxanna[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Edith[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps you narrow down your list a little  When you get it down to your favourites I’d love to help with some combinations!

Good luck

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Erin[/name]!

[name]Elenore[/name] - [name]Eleanor[/name]? [name]Elinor[/name]? I don’t care for [name]Elenore[/name], personally. And I don’t love it with Burtner. Nope!
[name]Ellen[/name] - Eh, it isn’t quite the spunky name that I think you need. Moving on…
[name]Natalie[/name] - I like this, but it feels a little tired at this point. It isn’t quite dated, but it isn’t quite fresh. Next!
[name]Katherine[/name] ([name]Kate[/name]) - [name]Kit[/name]? [name]Kat[/name]? [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Kate[/name] is just “eh” to me. But, I do like [name]Katherine[/name]. It’s alright.
[name]Gwen[/name] - [name]Gwen[/name] is a lovely nickname. [name]Gwyneth[/name]? [name]Gwendolen[/name]? Well, yes, I love [name]Gwendolen[/name] Burtner with [name]Charlotte[/name]. Ideal!
[name]Margaret[/name] - [name]Margaret[/name] Burtner doesn’t flow as well as I think it could. And it ends the same as [name]Charlotte[/name]. Next!
[name]Nora[/name] - I won’t comment other than to say that [name]Nora[/name] is one of my least favorite names. Next!
[name]Carolyn[/name] - [name]Caroline[/name] is one thing, but [name]Carolyn[/name] feels like an older lady to me. Not quite spunky enough. Moving on…
[name]Caroline[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it, but not as a sister for [name]Charlotte[/name]. They have the same meaning and are both [name]Charles[/name] variants! No!
[name]Georgia[/name] - [name]Georgia[/name] Burtner is cute, a is [name]Gigi[/name] Burtner, so this one has potential. [name]Georgina[/name] is more me, though. Like it!
[name]Elise[/name] - [name]Elyse[/name] is my middle name, so I guess I should like this. I do! [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Elise[/name]. Very pretty!
[name]Bronwyn[/name] - Too different in style. Nope!
[name]Emerson[/name] - Too unisex. Nope!
[name]Quinn[/name] - Again, too unisex. But I love it! But, no, no it does not fit. Moving on…
[name]Josephine[/name] - Oh, this one is very nice with [name]Charlotte[/name]! [name]Jo[/name], [name]Joey[/name], or [name]Josie[/name] gives you plenty of nickname options. Like it!
[name]Pauline[/name] - I once had a best friend called [name]Pauline[/name]. She was Swedish. I think [name]Pauline[/name] is past its prime. Nope!
[name]Margot[/name] - Hm. I do like this name, maybe [name]Margo[/name] a bit more, but I don’t think it is fab next to [name]Charlotte[/name]. Next!
[name]Kit[/name] - YES! As a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name], of course! This is fabulous, [name]Erin[/name]. Like it very much!
[name]Etta[/name] - Eh, not enough spunk. And, [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Etta[/name] are a little repetitive. No, thanks!
[name]Roxie[/name] - [name]Roxane[/name]? [name]Roxana[/name]? Not just [name]Roxie[/name], please. It sounds like a puppy. [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Roxane[/name] is nice, though!
[name]Lucia[/name] - I like it, but it is a little romantic next to [name]Charlotte[/name]. Not the best fit. Next!
[name]Lucy[/name]/[name]Lucille[/name] - [name]Lucy[/name] is cute, but it lacks a bit of substance, I think. I do like it very much, though, so I’d keep it…
[name]Monica[/name] - I think [name]Monica[/name] died with Friends. I know one, and she’s nearing fifty. I can’t see it on a little girl! Next!
[name]Martine[/name] - [name]Martine[/name]? [name]Martina[/name]? Not doing much for me, especially next to sweet and sassy [name]Charlotte[/name]. No, thanks!
[name]Simone[/name] - I do like [name]Simone[/name], but I think it would be better as a middle name next to [name]Charlotte[/name]. A good one, though…
[name]Marlow[/name] - Too unisex! No!
[name]Vivienne[/name] - I’ve never been much of a [name]Vivienne[/name] fan, so I’d keep it in the middle. It’s alright with [name]Charlotte[/name]. Next!
[name]Maxine[/name] - If I had a sister named [name]Charlotte[/name], I wouldn’t want to be called [name]Maxine[/name]. No, thank you!
[name]Saylor[/name] - Too “yooneek” and unisex. Next!
[name]Sloan[/name] - Too surname-y and unisex. Next!
[name]Felice[/name] - This sounds like [name]Feliz[/name] and fleece to me, so I’ll pass. Too different in style. Next!
[name]Edie[/name] - A great nickname, but I’m not keen on [name]Edith[/name]. Are you? No, thank you!
[name]Elin[/name] - Too close to your name, [name]Erin[/name], in spelling. Next!
[name]Bea[/name] - [name]Beatrice[/name]? [name]Beatrix[/name]? With Burtner, it’s cute alliteration. But, [name]Bea[/name] is a nickname that needs a longer form. Good!
[name]Fern[/name] - [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Fern[/name]. [name]How[/name] cute! [name]How[/name] very [name]Charlotte[/name]'s [name]Web[/name]! [name]Fern[/name] Burtner isn’t doing anything for me. Next!
[name]Fay[/name] - Middle name material. I like it very much (more [name]Faye[/name], though), but it isn’t substantial enough. Next!
[name]Sophia[/name] - Pretty, for sure, but oh-so-popular. I like some of your other choices more! Moving on…
[name]Avery[/name] - Too unisex. Too trendy. Not at all right with [name]Charlotte[/name]. Nope!
[name]Grace[/name] - This is pretty, and I like it as a first name rather than a middle name. [name]Gracie[/name] is spunky, too. I like it!
[name]Elliot[/name] - Too close to [name]Charlotte[/name] in sound, for sure. And too masculine. Nope!
[name]Ruby[/name] - This is great, but [name]Ruby[/name] Burtner has a little too much B for my taste. It might work, though…

Okay, you had a couple repeats on this list - [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Saylor[/name], and [name]Margot[/name] from what I could recall. Are those ones you really like, or was it a mistake? I can’t say those were my favorites, but [name]Lucy[/name] wins from that pack.

My favorites off your list were - well, let’s go back and look - [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Kit[/name], [name]Roxane[/name], [name]Simone[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], and [name]Grace[/name]. I recommended that you use [name]Gwendolen[/name] to get to [name]Gwen[/name], and I adore that with [name]Charlotte[/name]; I suggested that you use [name]Kit[/name] as a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name] instead of [name]Kate[/name]; I suggested that you use [name]Roxane[/name] as a long form for [name]Roxy[/name], so you don’t sound like you’re naming a puppy; and I suggested [name]Beatrice[/name] to get you to [name]Bea[/name], because that’s too insignificant on its own. If I were you, I’d use 1) [name]Gwendolen[/name], 2) [name]Josephine[/name], 3) [name]Georgia[/name], 4) [name]Elise[/name], 5) [name]Katherine[/name], 6) [name]Grace[/name], 7) [name]Beatrice[/name], 8) [name]Roxane[/name], 9) [name]Lucy[/name], and 10) [name]Simone[/name]. Thus, you can see that [name]Gwendolen[/name] “[name]Gwen[/name]” is by far my favorite, though [name]Josephine[/name] would work nicely, too.

What is [name]Charlotte[/name]'s middle name?

[name]Lemon[/name]

PS [name]Charlotte[/name] is one of my favorite names, and I think her ideal sister - if I were having a sibling for my future [name]Charlotte[/name], that is - is [name]ALICE[/name]!

I love so many of these names and two of them are mine, [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Margot[/name] so of course they go to the top of the list!

[name]Margo[/name] goes perfectly with [name]Charlotte[/name]. I am having a little girl in 4 months as well and we are gonna name her [name]Indie[/name]! You have very good taste in names!
