What goes with Astrid?

We are expecting a little girl at the end of [name]April[/name]. We had agreed on the name [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Coraline[/name] for her but now I am having second thoughts. As much as I rack my brain I can’t come up with any boy or girl names that I think go with [name]Astrid[/name] for future children. I was wondering if any of you have suggestions? Thanks!

Other Scandinavian names, like [name]Kari[/name], [name]Marit[/name], [name]Maren[/name], and Synneva. You might also consider [name]Greta[/name]. [name]Ingrid[/name] is another thought, but probably too similar to [name]Astrid[/name].

For a boy, I adore Amund. Thomas, Christopher, and Magnus are other Scandinavian choices.

[name]Willa[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Zoe[/name], [name]Willow[/name] immediately come to mind for sisters in a set with [name]Astrid[/name]. Boys… I’m bad at boy names so I apologize. [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Ethan[/name], [name]Ezra[/name]?

Definitely agree with [name]Maren[/name], [name]Willa[/name], and [name]Zoe[/name]!

I think anything less classic and more eclectic would work.

[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Annika[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]

I love the suggestions of [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Greta[/name] as sisters for [name]Astrid[/name]. If you don’t mind themes then [name]Astrid[/name] and [name]Luna[/name] would be super cute. For brothers [name]Anders[/name] or [name]Zephyr[/name] maybe?

I always think of [name]Freya[/name] as a good name to go with [name]Astrid[/name]!

[name]Phoebe[/name] might be cute, too  Or Margo.

I have an [name]Archer[/name], and [name]Astrid[/name] is our #1 pick for a hypothetical future daughter - so I hope they go together?

But then, I really love “A” names, but don’t want them too matchy.

I do think any subtle Scandi names would work well, but I don’t think you need to feel restricted.

We hadn’t thought of using [name]Astrid[/name] when I was pregnant with [name]Archer[/name], yet we both really love it now - so something will come to you

I love the suggestion of [name]Willow[/name] and [name]Isobel[/name]. I also think the following would work:

[name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]

If you want to go the Scandanavian route, there is a thread on Scandanavian girl names that has lots of good suggestions  I’m not sure how to get the link using my phone but if you search “Scandinavian girl names” it will come up.

I love [name]Astrid[/name]! I think other Scandinavian names are very complimentary, but you definitely aren’t “locked in” to use another Scandinavian name.
That said, I do love [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] with [name]Astrid[/name]. But I think a lot of names would sound nice with [name]Astrid[/name]…you just have to find something that is recognizable but isn’t uber popular, nothing princessy or frilly (which I don’t care for, anyway), and maybe something with a slight exotic feel to it. [name]Magnolia[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] would also sound nice with [name]Astrid[/name], for example. I also love the suggested [name]Maren[/name], it is a great match with [name]Astrid[/name].

For boys, my favorites are [name]Anders[/name] and [name]Torsten[/name]. I also like [name]Soren[/name] and [name]Stellan[/name]. Any of those would sound awesome with [name]Astrid[/name]. But again, you aren’t locked in to finding another Scandinavian name…I think a lot of names would sound great! The only names that don’t match well are names that are overly popular/trendy/modern.
