Was it a after a family member , a celebrity or a random thought?
My list is based on family members and personal taste. I’ve never considered choosing a name based on a celebrity, but I do like many names of literary characters. I take personal taste into consideration more than anything else, but if I love a name that also honors a family member then it’s a win-win.
Personal taste, of course, but the next biggest thing is probably the meaning of the name (e.g. [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] - “other Aenor” is just a bit of a let down for me personally!). Then a usable nickname that I like as much as the full name (or almost as much) if needed. Would definitely be put off by a popular name (e.g. I haven’t let myself fall in love with [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]). Then it needs to fit with the other names on my list. Matching initials/sounds would put me off a little but wouldn’t automatically rule out a name/names I really loved.
My list is somewhat inspired by my family’s Welsh heritage. Some of my favourites are [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. Others are personal taste, guilty pleasures, names I’ve seen in books or on TV that stuck. One or two may be after a family member or friend, but I have to like it a lot to use it.
First daughter-a joke that turned
Second daughter-a name from a movie morphed
[name_m]Son[/name_m]-a dream
and all their middle names from grandparents and great-grandparents
My first was inspired by the history behind the name, it showed such strength.
My second by a local homestead from the late 1800 near my home, a connection to the past with a heroic meaning.
For me, I could come up with names all day long, but if I’m not carrying a child then the likelyhood of using it for a future little one is low-excluding family middles- each little growing baby has it own feel and it effects the naming process. At least it does for me.
