What is [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Myla[/name_f] short for? Besides [name_u]Milan[/name_u]. I prefer the long I sound, pronounced M-eye-la. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering if it is short for anything. Thanks!
I think both [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and [name_f]Myla[/name_f] can stand alone. [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m]'s daughter is [name_f]Mila[/name_f] short for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Besides that, I’ve never seen it short for anything.
I pronounce [name_f]Mila[/name_f] like “[name_f]Mil[/name_f]-luh” and [name_f]Myla[/name_f] like “My-luh”. [name_f]Mil[/name_f] like ill and my like eye.
The actress [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kuniss, her first name is actually [name_f]Milena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] can be used for example in eastern Europe as a nickname for pretty much any girl name that has “mil” in it. [name_f]Milena[/name_f], [name_f]Ludmila[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_f]Milada[/name_f], [name_f]Milica[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], Miloslava etc.
It can also be short for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
I agree about [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], and [name_f]Milena[/name_f]
I also think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Mirella[/name_f], or [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] could work.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is best as ar full name
I can’t think of anything that would make it logical to pronounce the name as [name_f]Myla[/name_f]. Why not use [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Myla[/name_f] as a name on it’s own?
Thanks! I think it stands well alone, I was just wondering if it was short for something.
One of the girls from the clinic I work for is [name_f]Milania[/name_f] but they call her [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Milena[/name_f], [name_f]Milica[/name_f], [name_f]Milada[/name_f], or [name_f]Ludmila[/name_f].
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is a common nickname (and name now) in Europe.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] comes from Ludmilla and [name_f]Milagros[/name_f]. Also used for [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Milana[/name_f]/[name_f]Milena[/name_f].
