[name]Hi[/name] both [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] are on my list and I’m trying to figure out if they are interchangeable or if there are reasons to pick one over the other. Any thoughts? Like does a [name]Theo[/name] bring up a different image for you than [name]Leo[/name]?
Also, if I choose [name]Theo[/name], it would be over [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name]. Wondering what you think of the [name]Theo[/name] vs. [name]Tobias[/name] matchup! Since I am undecided and trying to figure which is best to go with. Neither works particularly stellar with my last name but I’m sort of throwing my hands up at that since my last name is hard.
[name]Theo[/name] is better with Stellar than [name]Tobias[/name], as [name]Tobias[/name] Stellar has that runtogetherissue.
[name]Tobias[/name] has a bit of a dorky connotation to me, likely because of the [name]Tobias[/name] Fünke association. [name]Tobey[/name] [name]Maguire[/name] is a bit in that category as well.
[name]Theo[/name] draws an image of an artist type, perhaps a bit brooding and sensitive. Handsome.
Oh my last name isn’t Stellar! Sorry for the confusion. I meant the word stellar and not stellar as in not brilliant or easy at all. But thank you for your thoughts. [name]Reading[/name] them again now!
I sort of think of [name]Leo[/name] as having the same image as what you described for [name]Theo[/name], so maybe they indeed are very similar! Maybe I just think of [name]Leo[/name] that way because of [name]Leo[/name] DiCaprio.
[name]Theo[/name] I think of Cosby show and [name]Theodore[/name] from the chipmunks, bit of a softer feel. Also, I’m not sure about using [name]Theo[/name] by itself. I’ve only ever heard it connected to [name]Theodore[/name], whereas I have heard [name]Leo[/name] used by itself.
[name]Leo[/name] I think of lions, and the character on Charmed. It still has a smooth sound but the image is stronger.
If you like [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] what about [name]Levi[/name]?–similar sound to [name]Leo[/name] but a bit more of an antique sound like [name]Tobias[/name].
I really love [name]Theo[/name], but not [name]Theodore[/name]. I also really love [name]Leo[/name]…and [name]Tobias[/name]. We have similar taste. To me, [name]Theo[/name] is a little more old fashioned where [name]Leo[/name] is bit more new. I love [name]Tobias[/name], but could never use it because I had a dog named [name]Toby[/name].
I do also have [name]Levi[/name] on my list! [name]Just[/name] worried it sounds too trendy or trying too hard. But I do like it.
Yes, I definitely do not like [name]Theodore[/name]. Now that sounds dorky and too much to me. Plus way too long for my long last name.
[name]Theo[/name] sounds a bit more modern to me than [name]Leo[/name], but just a tiny bit and not sure why. [name]Tobias[/name] definitely sounds old fashioned. But a cool choice.
I like [name]Tobias[/name] a lot, and the nn [name]Toby[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] are both great, but to me [name]Theo[/name] needs to be short for [name]Theodore[/name] (a name I love) and [name]Leo[/name] can stand on its on. [name]Levi[/name] is another really cool choice! My order of preference (though it may change, they’re all close) would be:
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
Another thing to consider is whether you’d hold any of these over for possible sibling names. I think [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Toby[/name] would make great brothers.
[name]Leo[/name] i think of lions! i can only think of lions! with [name]Felix[/name] it is always cats and the only connection i can figure out is ‘felis catus’ which is cats scientific name and i also read a book when i was about seven and desperately wanting a kitten called [name]Felix[/name] the Fluffy Kitten. But i’m going off track…baby brain…
i [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Theo[/name]!! I also love [name]Theodore[/name] but i can see the unappeal and i dont see anything wrong with just using [name]Theo[/name] even though it is more commonly associated with [name]Theodore[/name]. If i use [name]Theodore[/name] i would be using [name]Theo[/name] as a nickname right from birth i believe! To me it has that kind of soft but strong feel to it and a bit of gruffness and tenderness… ah perfect!
i also like [name]Tobias[/name], do you already have a son called [name]Toby[/name]/[name]Tobias[/name]? or just thinking up sibsets for the future?
i think a good rule (that has helped me at least!) is name each child individually and dont give a spare thought to future brothers or sisters they may or may not that. When and if you do have another and it comes to naming them maybe a much loved name is out because of what you named your first but i guarantee you’ll find another beautiful and equally loved name and life will go on!
if you already have a [name]Tobias[/name] or having twins, i dont think [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] are too bad as the Th and the T sound are quite different. I dont prefer [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] as [name]Leo[/name] just doesnt cut the mustard for me!
When I hear the name [name]Leo[/name], I think of a lion and of [name]Leo[/name] DiCaprio. [name]Both[/name] are good associations for me. [name]Leo[/name] has really really grown on me a lot. It is manly but short and to the point. [name]Theo[/name] reminds me of the hockey player [name]Theo[/name] Fleury. Not a bad association, but not a great one either. I still like [name]Theo[/name] though, but not as much as [name]Leo[/name]. [name]Tobias[/name], I don’t care for at all. It sounds to biblical for taste and I never cared for the nn [name]Toby[/name].
This won’t make sense to most people but I see [name]Leo[/name] as a stand alone name, while [name]Theo[/name] is definitely a nickname to me. I don’t like [name]Theo[/name] on it’s own but [name]Leo[/name] just works like that but both are very popular in the UK.
I have both [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] on my list. I do adore [name]Theodore[/name] and I have it as a middle name for my favourite first name just so that way I can definitely use it. [name]Tobias[/name] is down as a first name, I think the [name]Toby[/name] nickname is adorable. I’m not much help with that one, sorry.
