Trying to create an honor name for a baby boy from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Is it [name_m]Eli[/name_m]? [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]? Any thoughts? Thanks!
I don’t think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] has a male version, but you could try with a sound-alike name. [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] are nice.
- [name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
- [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
- [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
- [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
- [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m]
I think [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is a good boy version of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
I’ve found Elso, Sive, Siver and sometimes [name_m]Tino[/name_m] as scandinavian/german variants of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] would work, too!
Could you use a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s middle name or surname?
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] comes from the Hebrew [name_f]Elisheba[/name_f], which does seem to be used as a boys name sometimes. I don’t know if the people using it are Hebrew speakers or not (I’m not, so I can’t judge whether it’s a unisex name or not).
Here are some more [name_m]Eli[/name_m]- names that might work, depending on your heritage and attitude to biblical names (I’ll try to avoid repeats)-
[name_m]Eliseo[/name_m]
[name_m]Elizeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Eliakim[/name_m]
Eliezar
[name_m]Elian[/name_m]
[name_m]Elizar[/name_m]
[name_m]Elizur[/name_m]
Elior
Elizaphan
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
Eliashib
Eliav
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
Elizander pops up occasionally too. I don’t know what its background is
Lizar
[name_m]Betto[/name_m]
I think [name_u]Elisha[/name_u], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Eliezer[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], and [name_m]Ilya[/name_m] are the closest
Girls are given boys’ names all the time so why couldn’t you use a girl’s name on a boy? It doesn’t have a true masculine version, but you could use a form of the name from another language:
[name_f]Zabel[/name_f]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
Erzsi
[name_m]Eliso[/name_m]
