[name_f]Share[/name_f] your name meaning! And/or your child’s. I have found a new interest in the meaning of names, and recently discovered mine (Reborn Sea [name_u]Angel[/name_u]). So let’s hear 'em! You don’t have to put your actual name down, and you don’t have to put the meanings in the same sequence as their corresponding name, because that might get choppy. Cool stories would be appreciated : )
P.S. You can include your LN’s meaning, if you know it. I just included my first name, and 1st & 2nd middles.
My first name, [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], means “ash trees place”
My middle name, [name_u]Blair[/name_u], means “dweller on the plain”
[name_m]Both[/name_m] of my names are unisex, but I love my name. Its really unique.
My dad got [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] from a book, and my mom got [name_u]Blair[/name_u] from the tv show, “Facts of Life”.
My first name means “pure” and my middle name means “lily”. I always thought those meanings went together pretty well.
My husband’s first name means “handsome”…and his middle name is his mother’s maiden name, so I have no clue what it means.
My daughter’s first name means “bitter” according to most sources because it’s a form of [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but Behind the Name says it’s also associated with the Gaelic “mór”, which means “great”, so we’ll go with that one LOL! Her middle name means “light”.
My name means bright - adore it. While I’m not that interested in meaning, I’ve found I just love the meaning of my name, and will probably consider it, when I’m naming future kids.
My first name means “noble.” My middle name is an 18th-century invented name that doesn’t really have an official meaning, but it was created by combining [name_u]Van[/name_u] (“of/from”) from a Dutch surname with a nickname for [name_f]Esther[/name_f] (“star”).
Pure + [name_u]Bright[/name_u], Shining One + Blonde/white-haired = Pure [name_m]Shiny[/name_m] Blonde One?
Too bad I’m a brunette! I was blonde as a child though, so I suppose it counts.
According to behind the name, my first name (a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] variant spelling) could also mean “torture”, “each of the two”, “my consecration of your name”, or it could be a variation of Hecate, which means “far off”. My middle name could also mean “torch” or “moon”, or possibly “desired”. My last name has an unknown meaning according to the site, but I’ve seen “blonde” several places, as well as “little wolf” and “person from Ennion’s mound” (wherever that is!).
Well [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is basically an elaboration of [name_f]Olive[/name_f] (olive tree). [name_f]Olive[/name_f] branches are a symbol of abundance, glory and peace.
My name has disputed meanings, some places say light, shining. Others say it is related to torch and moon. My middle name is [name_f]Maria[/name_f] which can mean: sea of bitterness, rebelliousness, wished for child, beloved, love (at least that’s what I have on my list for [name_f]Marie[/name_f]). So I could pick and choose a meaning I guess.
