What is the PERFECT girls’ name?

Hey berries!

The title says it all: What do you think is the perfect girls’ name and why? It can be your favorite name or just a name you think is flawless in almost every way.

Looking for inspiration and also simply curious what criteria others use to decide the perfect girls’ name.

Can’t wait to hear your responses!

I don’t think there is one but mine would be [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]. It sounds sweet with most names and doesn’t give off a certain image.

My most favorite name is [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I absolutely love that it is multi-cultural (more traditionally spelled [name_f]Aanya[/name_f] in my culture, but I personally like [name_f]Anya[/name_f]). It is easy, beautiful, uncommon but not unfamiliar. I love that being multicultural it has multiple meanings: “grace” (Russian) and “inexhaustible” (Sanskrit). I can’t really explain why else I’m so drawn to [name_f]Anya[/name_f]!

Same reasoning goes towards [name_f]Raina[/name_f], my second favorite for girls. It’s much less common in my culture than [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is but I still love it! The French meaning is “queen” and the Sanskrit meaning is “beautiful night”!

My most favorite is [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]. It means ‘white wave’ and if you’ve ever stood on an empty beach at twilight and watched the waves gently roll in, break on the shore and then retreat back to the sea… they seem to say [name_f]JEN[/name_f]-i-ferrrrr over and over, wave after wave.

[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is my favourite name by far and I intend to use it in the future :). I just love the image I get thinking about a little girl called [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] nn Savvy!

A name that I think is “perfect” in every way is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. I don’t know what it is about them though…

For me, the perfect girls name has a few criteria (I should add these are all completely subjective, there are names I love on other people that I would just never use myself):

  • It needs to have a history. I’m personally not one for recent or invented names
  • It needs to be feminine but at the same time not flouncy.
  • It needs to be strong and have some oomph behind it (again, totally subjective. My ‘oomph’ could be someone else’s ‘meh’)
  • If it works across different cultures, even better
  • It needs to be familiar enough that most people will recognise it as a name, but not ubiquitous

My daughter is M@rgot, and it’s still one of my favourites.

In terms of new choices, right now I can’t get [name_f]Tess[/name_f] out of my head, but I also absolutely love [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and I’ve always adored [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] abbreviated to [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

The perfect girl’s name?

It’s got to be [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Simple, elegant, timeless, beautifully balanced, and an enduring symbol of femininity.

Have to agree with katinka, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] by all counts is probably the single most perfect girl’s name. It’s classic but it’s chic, it’s feminine and strong and quite simply gorgeous.

In terms of what my favourite it, it’s [name_f]Alessia[/name_f]. For me the length, the imagery, the everything is perfect for me. [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] has been my dream name for years and I just adore how classy, sophisticated and intelligent she sounds.

The “perfect” girls name for me has to be well known but not overused, fairly easy to spell, fairly well accepted in a broad range of cultures and have a significant history and meaning behind her.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - to me at least.
I also love super flouncy names for girls and never understanded active dislike for feminine names.

I love @katinka’s suggestion and analysis of [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

I agree - clean, feminine, balanced and timeless include names like [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] etc.

Then there are the captivating names like [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] etc which are just so pleasant to say…

My current ‘perfect’ girls’ name is [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but my longest standing in top 10 (since age 6) is [name_f]Samantha[/name_f].

[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]!

I don’t know why I just think she’s so beautiful. I like the way the i and the e roll into each other. I love how its a familiar name but not too popular. I think it’s pretty and feminine and I can’t wait to one day have my own little [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

For me it’s [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]. I just think it’s so elegant and pretty and it works on all ages. I think it has a good range of nicknames too. I’m also really glad it’s not unheard of but it’s not common either.

Oh my… there are a few!! But for me, it’s got to be [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. Saying it slowly, syllable by syllable, it feels so dainty and soft. It’s also a lovely colour- hard to explain but each name has a colour in my mind, [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a mixture of soft pale pink and candy pink, I love it! It’s definitely on my list for the future.

To be honest, all my top favourite girls names are perfect to me- heavy but dainty when said syllable at a time, and each have a lovely colour. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], my all time favourite, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]… a recent discovery is [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] which I’m slowly falling in love with… [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] I love… I think the issue is I can make any name perfect!!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] these responses guys! I’m so excited to see such a wide variety of “perfect” names, and reading your criteria has been fascinating!

I posted this question on another site and the names they added were:
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]

I don’t really have a singular answer for a perfect girls’ name. I like and love so many different girls names that have so many different but equally appealing imageries, I struggle to decide on one. My absolute favourite name is [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], so I suppose she’s my perfect name, but there are a lot of others I think are pretty perfect too.

I think in general, a name has to be strong (imo) in some way to be perfect. Some are more obvious, I imagine they’d be vocal and energetic, strong willed and fiery. Names like [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Roxy[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], which can be split into short/feisty and longer/slightly dramatic as well.

Others are more subtle, they feel quieter and more thoughtful, but still passionate and unwavering in their ability to fight for what they believe in. Names like [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], [name_f]Fae[/name_f].

Then there are some names which just sound melodic and are so enjoyable to say. Names like [name_f]Viola[/name_f] (as Vee-oh-luh), [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], Amarinthea, [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], and softer choices like Rowenna, Lowenna, [name_f]Amadea[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Linnaea[/name_f].

I also like a name to have some history, and literary connections, good associations, and positive meanings are a huge plus (but not a necessity). I don’t there’s a name that spans all of those criteria for girls, although many cross over. I could probably narrow it down to [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]/[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] (strong and feisty), [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]/[name_f]Ziva[/name_f] (short and energetic), [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f]/[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] (calm and thoughtful), [name_f]Viola[/name_f]/[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] (fun to say), and Rowenna (soft sound plus imagery).

If I could pick the perfect name for myself, it would be [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], nn “[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]”. The reason is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] means alive, and projects a love of life and living to the fullest. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] would honor my birthday as being near [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]. The names flow together beautifully. I love feminine names that are recognizable as names.

I do not like word names ([name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Sage[/name_u]), mispelled names (Aliviyah, Elleynor, Korynn, [name_f]Emalee[/name_f]), virtue names ([name_f]Honor[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u], Temperence, [name_f]Chastity[/name_f]), made-up names (Kinsleigh, [name_f]Aubrianna[/name_f], Maisyn, Emberlyn), place names ([name_u]Dakota[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u]) or surnames as first names ([name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Emery[/name_u]) . Those seem so boring to me, especially as they become more and more popular and more and more ridiculous.

I love [name_f]Talia[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] - to me they are perfect!

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. It’s not my perfect girl name, but I believe it to be the perfect girl name.

For names that have a history of being feminine, I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] are two of my longest loves. Their a bit less common, a tad quirky.

So obviously what each person thinks is perfect will be different based on their individual criteria:

Mine are names that are longer with history and a larger than life quality, but that have accessible and less ancient feeling nickname potentials.

It’s very hard for me to pick an absolute perfect girl’s name, they’ve always been hard for me and I think I change my mind constantly.
I think right now my perfect girl’s name is [name_f]Persephone[/name_f].
