What is the WORST name you've ever heard?

I stand corrected. [name_m]Just[/name_m] encountered a Spencyre (female).

I hear a lot of interesting names working in an elementary school. Two that I can think of that don’t sound like names to me are Shadiamond (she was in preschool at the time, and going through an adoption, was going to have her name changed) and Sparkle.

I also met a girl named [name_m]Tupac[/name_m], who later had her name changed to [name_u]Genesis[/name_u].

Normally I would agree with you when considering multiple, different combinations, but his names are so ridiculous I can’t really find it in me to respect the choices.
For example:
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Boo[/name_u] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f]
[name_m]Buddy[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_u]Maurice[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Petal[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Rocket[/name_m]

They all just seem so incredibly juvenile! It’s as unflattering as naming someone [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Augustina[/name_f] [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Theophilus[/name_m] [name_m]Bonaventure[/name_m]. It’s over the top, mushy, and childish.

Looking at them individually, for example, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], - it’s a normal name. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Boo[/name_u]? Now that sounds like a dog’s name or something you’d call a pet in a baby voice. What IS [name_u]Boo[/name_u]?
[name_m]Buddy[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] sounds patronizing and condescending- almost like a sarcastic insult.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is very British, (and a lovely name) but [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] sounds like a garden and a beehive got stuck in a blender. Again it’s childish and infantile, and sounds indecisive.
[name_f]Petal[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] has the same structure and the same drippy sentimentality that will be incredibly cringey on an adult. In comparison to the rest, [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Rocket[/name_m] seems buttoned up and tame (although it does sound like the name of a rollercoaster).

[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] Somerhalder. Enough said.

I once used this in another thread as an example of bad names that people apparently don’t mind: Briyilex. She went to my high school though I never met her, only read her name in a list. Doesn’t it sound like detergent something??? Last time I commented here about it, I looked her up in Facebook… guys, there is more than one.

My dad worked in a children’s hospital in the early 2000s and he met all kinds of weird names, my favorite was a hispanization of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Schumacher but with the last name first. Something à la “Chumajer Maikel Lastnamehere” pronounced choo-mah-herr my-kell. People were talking about names at his work recently, he told this same story and a nurse said “oh, yes, I know him, he is one of my nephew’s best friends”. Yup, the same kid because he is now in his late teens and had the same procedure done.

My dad himself has a hideous name. He’s the youngest of 8 so he always mocks his name saying “that’s how I knew I came from an unplanned pregnancy”. In reality my grandpa had german-jewish coworkers and my grandma asked them for a name because she wanted something sophisticated and exotic, they gave her “[name_u]Yehudah[/name_u]” and she accidentally misspelled some letters and hispanicized it to clunky results.

Other names… let’s see… I detest most made-up names that are a lousy mix of syllables from the parents or family members. I have several of those in my own family and have had tons of classmates. The fad seems to be fading and now the people with the mix-and-match names are around my age or older.

In general, having a weird or “bad” name isn’t the worst thing that can happen. As a bearer of an unusual name, I’d rather be a Henmarlizbeth than another [name_f]Maria[/name_f].

I’ve never met anyone with a truly terrible name.

At my previous job I met a lady named [name_f]Sancha[/name_f], not terrible but is slang in Spanish for the other women/ the side chick.

Also my DH [name_f]Tia[/name_f] named her daughter [name_f]Lakshmi[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] kinda odd hearing it on a little Mexican girl. Most of the family calls her my her middle name tho.

When my sister was pregnant with her son, her Hubby wanted to name him Blazen. Their last name is [name_m]Hale[/name_m]. So Blazen [name_m]Hale[/name_m]. Haha luckily my sister shot down that idea.

Back in elementary school, there was a girl in my class named [name_f]Ariane[/name_f], except it was spelled ‘‘Ahryan’’. First of all, wasn’t the original spelling good enough for you? Second of all, I can’t keep the unfortunate similarity with another word out of my head. I know it was in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] so her parents might not have realized what the name could be interpreted as, but still, the [name_m]French[/name_m] word is aryen. Also, while when it comes to yooneek spelling I’m not as harsh as most people if it’s not over the top or a valid alternative in another language (I mean, it’s the case for my own name), that one just looks plain ugly, sorry…

In more recent year (aka, the present), I have this friend in college who is named [name_f]Carla[/name_f]. She has a twin brother, his name is [name_m]Carlos[/name_m]. She hates it a lot.

I went to school with someone called Krysteenah-hevvan. Spelt like that and everything!

It’s not one specific name, but someone else I also went to school with has three sons called [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] and [name_m]Tye[/name_m]. I think that’s just insane.

I think [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] is overused by not necessarily bad.

Mahrheah a variation on [name_f]Maria[/name_f], but in my opinion, it just looks like Diarhea

I know a Pypah, Gizaria (jiz-aria), Iciss, Taahnisha, Rayvyn and Sharnicka but the absolute WORST name ive seen has to be Moneck ([name_f]Monique[/name_f]). [name_m]Just[/name_m] why???

Prenses, Ördek, and Süleyman… all girls! Prenses means princess, Ördek means duck… And Süleyman is [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] which isn’t a girl name at all - these three shocked me at the time and I questioned their parents’ sanities.

Can’t stand it.

I’m from TX but live in [name_f]India[/name_f] and here Sh** is a bad word still. those names are actually quite popular here, they are very cultural.

Raptor on a boy

I work as a receptionist and I very recently met a young girl named Talladega, which I found to be unfortunate. Thankfully she was still a bit young to have watched Talladega Nights, but she will probably be very sick of the many memorable quotes from that movie. Shake and bake!

Another girl I remember had the name [name_u]Dream[/name_u] [name_u]Forever[/name_u]. I love word names, but even I thought her name was a bit much.

Twins [name_m]Tyrese[/name_m] and [name_f]Tyra[/name_f], their last name was the first syllable of their names.

[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], spelled Linkin. Makes me think of Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m].

Blazer
[name_u]Rebel[/name_u] (baby girl)
[name_f]Analie[/name_f]

I’ve seen:
La-a
A little boy called [name_f]Ami[/name_f] (pronounced [name_f]Amy[/name_f]) and his brother is named [name_m]Ace[/name_m]. [name_m]Ace[/name_m] is not so bad but the combination of the two makes me shudder.
A little girl named [name_f]Bali[/name_f]. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] to [name_f]LoLo[/name_f].
A little girl named [name_f]Chia[/name_f], like the seeds.
Another girl named Chai, like the tea.
The stripper name ‘[name_f]Tequila[/name_f]’ on a sweet little girl with conservative [name_m]Christian[/name_m] parents!

I’m sure I’ve heard many names that I really dislike but the only name I can specifically remember thinking was pretty bad was Khandalyce. Her name was all over the news in Australia a couple of years ago after it was discovered that her and her mother were murdered so I feel bad for thinking that her name was so terrible, but it is pretty bad.

I also remember a mother calling to her little girl in the shops a few years ago and it was something really odd like Reverence, not a horrendous name but seemed very out of place at the time.
