What names are your partners obsessing over?

On [name_m]New[/name_m] Years [name_u]Day[/name_u], somehow my husband and I ended up watching American Pie 3 (American Wedding) and one of the characters names was [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]. Well, DH has been obsessing over it since then, and whenever we talk about names all I hear is ‘[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]?’ Um how about no!
No offence to any Cadences out there, but just no.
What are your partners name obsessions at the moment?

We’re on the same page at the moment I think, but in the past his favorites were [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] and [name_u]Lyle[/name_u].

[name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_u]Raven[/name_u]…

…and [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f], still, despite me consistently vetoing [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] since 2008.

The only girl name that he has ever liked a lot is [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. I’m not sure that I am 100% sold, but it’s on the list anyway! As far as boy names go, it has always been [name_m]Callen[/name_m].

[name_u]Noah[/name_u] I like it except for its popularity… it is the top runner though because it is the only name he will agree to

I don’t have a partner, but I have a close guy friend. He’s been obsessed since about age ten (we’re now almost 17) with the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for his future daughter.

What is it with men and [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f]? I knew a guy who was in love with that too.
@marshmallow1207 [name_m]Callen[/name_m] is a lovely name! He’s not doing too bad :slight_smile:

Thank you! His mother’s maiden name is [name_m]Callahan[/name_m], so we knew from the start it was the one

Bahahaha… [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] is one of my husband’s, too!! Yeah, that was vetoed immediately. Not only do I just dislike that name in general, but it’s also the daughter of a girl that - well, let’s just say we just don’t like each other.

Another one he’s always been into is [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. It’s pretty - but we are not religious at all, and it just doesn’t do anything for me.

Others that he’s liked became more attractive to me because of his love for it, though!

@aggielou - Oh no! I just don’t get the appeal of [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] at all! Men huh!

[name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]. Anything ending in a “y” is stripperish… but [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] is just dandy! (eye roll)

OH really likes [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], which is nice and I love the nn [name_u]Perry[/name_u] or [name_u]Percy[/name_u] but it sounds far too much like [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (his ex is called [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f])

My husband loves [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]. Through both pregnancies (both boys), it’s his one and only contribution to the girl name list. I actually like it too (in the middle), but wish he’d come up with some more. As for boys, he has nothing as he’s convinced next will be a girl.

jessieo - Now that it’s been mentioned more than once, I’m wondering what the deal is with [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f], too…weird.

aggielou - I’ve come around to certain names because of my husband’s love for them, too. [name_f]Brigid[/name_f] in my signature is one that grew on me.

My husband is obsessed with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I’m just meh on it. All I see right now is A Lice. So if anyone has any suggestions of names similar in style to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] please send them my way.

In general my partner lets me do the naming although he vetoes too far-out choices (in his opinion) and often brings up [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] (his No 1 favourites).

My mum, however, is obsessed with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] for a girl (nn [name_m]George[/name_m]) and [name_m]Lennart[/name_m] for a boy. I like those names too but would not choose them now, just because she keeps pushing them so much.

DH likes [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. Which are fine- but I think I prefer them in the middle.

I despise the nn’s [name_f]Liz[/name_f] and [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f], but like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I like the sp [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]- but hate the nn [name_u]Lisa[/name_u].

So I’ll probably have to try and veer him away from it!

My boyfriend loved [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u], [name_u]Merle[/name_u], [name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_m]Odin[/name_m], and [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m]/[name_m]Huck[/name_m]. Except [name_m]Huck[/name_m] (which eventually went on the no list), I didn’t like any of these. We worked it out that if one of us didn’t like the name, it went off the list. I’m still bummed that I lost [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] this way, but we never argued about names or felt like we had to try to love something we didn’t like.

My fiance is absolutely in love with the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f], ever since I mentioned it to him a couple of months ago. It’s currently in our top three, even though I’m not too happy with how popular it’s gotten in the States. [name_f]Anja[/name_f] (pronounced: [name_f]Anya[/name_f]) is my first choice, and he loves it, too. It looks like the future sisters will be [name_f]Luna[/name_f] & [name_f]Anja[/name_f].

In the past he’s been a fan of [name_f]Delila[/name_f], but we vetoed it because we knew people were going to mispronounce it and call her [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].

I wish he’d obsess over a name or just suggest one occasionally! [name_m]Both[/name_m] with DS and this time round, it’s up to me to come up with a list and he vetoes or picks from that. I don’t mind too much as I do like looking for names and I also like making lists but I’m rubbish at making final decisions so it works well for us but it does feel like I’m putting in far more work than he is!
