What names did you go to school with that were UNCOMMON the year you were born?

I was inspired by @Fernyx to do this post! They recently did a post asking people to list some names that were common/popular around the time they were born that no one who they went to school with their age had that name!

Well this post is basically the opposite of that. Think of some names of people that went to your school that were actually pretty uncommon around the time you were born! I’ll list my examples here:

Boys:

-Sebastian: It wasn’t SUPER uncommon the year I was born, just very unexpected among the usual style names the kids I went to school with had. I had one [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] in my grade in Elementary School (4th and 5th grade) and one my Freshman year of High School.

-Augustus: I go to school with two Augustus’s, despite it being almost below the top 1,000 the year they were both born in. They both also go by [name_u]Gus[/name_u], which is pretty uncommon as well.

-Griffin: One who went to both my middle school and now my high school.

Girls:

-Eleanor: Multiple in my high school.

-Gwen: One, when I was in elementary school.

-Veronika: One who went to middle school with me.

-Lola: Two in my high school.

-Clementine: Two in my high school.

Have fun!

My class was super small (and I’m talking 10 people small. Talk about going to private Christian school lol), so I only have one, and that is Vince. I’ve never heard of anyone else with this name, despite it sounding really popular

there were two lunas & a freya two years ahead of me in elementary school. many others probably but my school was a spanish immersion so it had lots of people from families who spoke spanish and therefore names commonly used in those communities were common at my school. there were 4 angels in my grade at one point, all boys.

  • Anton!o who went exclusively by Anth0ny, not uncommon per se, but uncommon for our area and with him being Caucasian
  • Dan3ssa
  • E3rie
  • D3lilah, she is still the only person I’ve ever known with the name
  • T3rry, he was younger than me and it was such an unexpected name for a boy and one born in the late 90s at that. He started going by his middle name in high school

As far as boys go I did not see very many:

[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] - he spelled it [name_m]Gavyn[/name_m] but I believe [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] is the more usual form
Amminadab - yes, I actually knew 1 boy with this name while in middle school
[name_u]Joseph[/name_u] - only knew of 2
[name_u]Nolan[/name_u] - only knew 1
[name_m]Brigham[/name_m] - again I only knew 1
[name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] - only knew of 2
Aarjav - 1, met him in high school

The girls:

[name_u]Afton[/name_u] - met 1 girl with this name in elementary school and zero in junior high or high school as well as college (though college is really too large to accurately tell)
[name_f]Versailles[/name_f] - 1 girl only
Aleizsha - there was only 1 girl that I was classmates with through middle and high school
[name_u]Scotland[/name_u] - only 1
[name_u]Regan[/name_u] - there was only 1 girl who had this name
[name_f]Calista[/name_f] - 1 only
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] - only 1 as far as I know
