I’m working on another character…very early stages. Look at this photo http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u377/crissyc76/6297.jpg, and tell me what name first pops into your head. If anyone recognizes who is in the photo…just ignore who it is. Based on the photo and how the character is dressed, does she seem upper or lower class?
I would deffinetly say the chracter is very near the upper class, she looks well dressed. I think she looks like a [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Iris[/name], or [name]Carlotta[/name]. Something pretty, with a touch of whimsy.
I also see a [name]Susannah[/name] or an [name]Agnes[/name]…something old-fashioned or vintage. I see her as a regular middle class to high middle class person. I like her earrings…but the dress just doesn’t look as high class to me.
Thanks. What I’m trying for with this character is middle to lower class but she tries for middle to upper. Cosmetics are cheaper and she can make herself look good, but the clothing is harder. Clothing is more expensive. This character has a natural beauty about her too which helps. After a few more people respond, I’ll tell you more about the character and see if the names change.
Hm, for some reason [name]Jacqueline[/name] was the first name I thought of. Not a clue why. I think I could see her as either upper or lower class. She seems upper class but she also doesn’t seem snobby like a typical upper class person might be.
I picture middle class and the name [name]Rozlyn[/name]. I know that’s a misspelling of [name]Rosalind[/name], but I really specifically heard the pronunciation roz-lin and wasn’t sure of any other way to spell it.
Wow, lots of different first impressions…different from what I see. I see a [name]Diane[/name], but I like most of the names suggested.
I’ll mention a few things about the character and see if opinions change.
This character had a baby when she was a teenager. [name]One[/name] of three men could be the father. She kept the baby, raised it with the help of her mother. In the present time, she is estranged from the daughter. They don’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. The daughter wants to know who her father is. The mother doesn’t understand the point. Mostly the mother is scared that if the daughter finds her father they’ll have the relationship she never had with her daughter. The mother is selfish and judgemental. She uses people and men like pawns on a chess board. She never keeps a job for long and has worked at jobs ranging from waitress to pumping gas to working in a casino. She’s starting to want to change…settle down, but the daughter doesn’t belive her.
Wow…so many different names for a first impression. I don’t mind the [name]Susannah[/name] angle, but because this character was born in the late 60’s, [name]Susan[/name] would probably be the more logic way to go.
I love the name [name]Caroline[/name], but being a fan of The Vampire Diaries, I always see Miss [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Forbes[/name].
I’m feeling the [name]Jacqueline[/name] or [name]Jackie[/name] angle…the meaning is right on too.
[name]Rosalind[/name] is alright. [name]Even[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would work.
I’m seeing a [name]Diane[/name] or [name]Barbara[/name]. I like the meaning behind [name]Barbara[/name].
I have to take into consideration that the daughter’s name is [name]Katherine[/name] (nn. [name]Kate[/name]). Would a [name]Jackie[/name] name her daughter [name]Kate[/name]? Would [name]Diane[/name] name her daughter [name]Katherine[/name], but call her [name]Katie[/name]? This woman was a teenager when she had her daughter.
Here are the surnames I’m considering: [name]Gordon[/name], Cargill, Lavery, [name]Mercer[/name], and Compton
Something country -girl with freckles and a free spirit. She seems middle class to me -not wanting for anything but not the type who would drive a BMW either.
[name]Ramona[/name]. Then [name]Liv[/name].
I’m not sure I like them though. [name]Liv[/name] seems to match, but I have no idea where [name]Ramona[/name] came from!
