Ugh. Torn. I think [name]Helena[/name] fits better with your list, and I think it just suits you a million times better, but I like that [name]Magdalena[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name] is so much more distinctive from your other choices. You don’t have the [name]Magdalena[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] problem like you might with [name]Helena[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name]. I prefer [name]Helena[/name], but I think, with your other favorites, [name]Magdalena[/name] works better. So I didn’t vote. ha.

I like [name]Helena[/name] and that’s what I voted for, but another option is [name]Delaney[/name] which is totally different stylistically from your other options but I also really like it.

I really love the name [name]Delaney[/name]. It’s beautiful, energetic, and I find it quite feminine, but it’s also a name that you don’t hear very often. And, of course, it sets you up perfectly for the nickname [name]Laney[/name]!

I like [name]Magdalena[/name] more than [name]Helena[/name]. I don’t like [name]Helena[/name] at all sorry. I also love [name]Delaney[/name]! It’s really cute and [name]Laney[/name] would work perfectly.

I picked Magdalena because it’s actually said mag-dah-ley-nah.

Helena and Elena (which in ancient Greek was a diminutive form of Helena), as I’ve seen people suggest are pronounced hel-en-ah and el-en-ah. They are both Greek names and both E’s are Epsilons, therefore they are both pronounced the same way. You’re pronunciation is just an excepted mispronunciation, which I don’t agree with. If you want Laney from Helena, maybe spell it Helaina. I think I made it up, but then it’s be pronounced the way you want. Or Elaina.

[name]Helena[/name] fits best with your other names, but I prefer Magdelena a bit more.

Ideally I like the idea of [name]Delaney[/name], [name]Elena[/name], [name]Elaina[/name], [name]Elaine[/name] more.

I chose Magdelena, because [name]Helena[/name] is pn hel-in-uh

I don’t like [name]Helena[/name] with your pronunciation, and I love [name]Magdalena[/name], so it was a pretty easy pick.

[name]Delaney[/name] has no appeal I can see.

I voted for something else… I like another poster’s suggestion of [name]Delaney[/name], or the traditional [name]Elaine[/name], or [name]Lena[/name], [name]Alaina[/name]. [name]Lainey[/name] is very cute!

My first choice would be [name]Elena[/name]. I like [name]Helena[/name] better out of your two options, though.

I’m coming back to give you a list of names with the [name]LAY[/name] sound (not like [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Helena[/name]):

[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Malaya[/name]
Talaya – dew from God
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Adlai[/name]
[name]Elaine[/name]
[name]Elaina[/name]
Helaina – bright one – turns out I didn’t make it up. heh-[name]LAY[/name]-nah – Old Greek variation of [name]Helena[/name]
Lalaine
Malaika
Malaina
Milaine
Talaith
Celaeno – Greek name one of the Pleiades – seh-[name]LAY[/name]-no
Zulae

[name]Do[/name] you like any of those?

I like [name]Adelaine[/name] - not sure if it’s a legit name or made-up. Also [name]Lorraine[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name].

I voted for [name]Helena[/name]. I like [name]Lainey[/name] as a nn for that (though I think it’s a little stretch). I really like [name]Delaney[/name] though. I think [name]Lainey[/name] is an adorable nn for [name]Delaney[/name].

I like [name]Helena[/name] more, though I don’t care for either but I adore [name]Lainey[/name]. I love the name [name]Alaina[/name], so I would suggest that with the nickname [name]Lainey[/name]. [name]Alayna[/name]/Laynie is a nice spelling as well. My sister likes the name [name]Layne[/name] on its own. I like [name]Delaney[/name], too thought it isn’t quite my style. I don’t care for the He-len-uh pronunciation at all.

Well I love the name/nn [name]Lainey[/name] btw but when I have a daughter I will name her [name]Elaine[/name] (most likely) and call her [name]Lainey[/name] :). But you could do [name]Elaina[/name], or [name]Alaina[/name]… :-). Great name! Hehe

I chose [name]Magdalena[/name] because it’s much more distinctive than [name]Helena[/name], but it is in most cases pronounced [name]Mag[/name]-Duh-[name]Lee[/name]-[name]Nuh[/name].

Another vote for [name]Magdalena[/name] here. [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Elena[/name], [name]Ghislaine[/name], or [name]Marjolaine[/name] would also work.
