What sort of person would an "Alix" be?

I admit, this post is totally narcissistic, but it’s not something I’ve ever thought about until just now. My name is [name]Alix[/name] and I just suddenly (well after I saw another [name]Alix[/name] on this forum) thought “What kind of person is an [name]Alix[/name]?” And wondered if I fit the description! What do you think of when you hear the name? What does she look like and what is she likely to do for a living? What are her extra-curricular activities likely to be? This could be interesting! This is purely for fun, so no offence taken AT ALL.

The only [name]Alix[/name] that springs to mind is Tsarina [name]Alexandra[/name] of [name]Russia[/name] (the last Tsarina of [name]Russia[/name] for that matter). Her birth name was [name]Alix[/name] of Hesse and she was a [name]German[/name] princess. I have read countless novels, books, biographies and history books about this particular woman as I am interested in this phase of history and I have to say, by all accounts, she was a admirable person of great courage and strength (her reputation blighted by her involvement with the infamous Rasputin). She was nicknamed [name]Sunny[/name] by her husband, and she was said to be very regal, proud and passionate about her husband and children. These are the traits I tend to imagine when I hear that name.

I thin of someone smart, a classy tomboy. In her spare time she rides horses and competes in dressage, and at work she is an assertive lawyer interested in politics and human rights. Sh’e’s dynamic and charismatic. I think my impression is largely thanks to the [name]Alex[/name] that [name]Lucy[/name] Liu portrayed in the [name]Charlie[/name]'s Angels movies

[name]Alix[/name] and [name]Alex[/name] are NOT the same name. [name]Alix[/name] is a medieval variant of [name]Alice[/name]. Because of that, when I see [name]Alix[/name], I imagine an [name]Alice[/name] rather than an [name]Alex[/name].

[name]Alice[/name] has blond hair, blue eyes, fair skin - this is influenced by [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland, no doubt. I imagine her being quiet, intelligent, maybe a bit sassy in style.

Hahaha too funny! Now I’m curious to see if any of these match me =)

I love the name [name]Alix[/name], and it’s one of the front runners for our daughter (coming in two weeks!). My husband and I were talking about the image we had of the name, and bluejuniper’s description is actually not far off from what we came up with too. Someone smart and tough and classy who could secretly be a ninja. I think it’s a name that is both strong and feminine. I know it’s a form of [name]Alice[/name] (and I really like that about it!) but to me the vibe is very different.

Maybe an [name]Alix[/name] would be a novelist or a foreign correspondent or a photographer or a surgeon. I can see her participating in a lot of different extracurricular activities, but since I imagine her as kind of an independent spirit, I guess I don’t really picture pep squad or stuff like that.

Berries named [name]Alix[/name], if you don’t mind my asking: do people always think your name is [name]Alex[/name]/[name]Alexandra[/name]/[name]Alexa[/name], and is that a gigantic pain? Because the one thing I worry about is her having to spell or explain her name [name]EVERY[/name] TIME she introduces herself.

As an [name]Alix[/name], I do have to spell my name alot, but as I get older I only spell it for important things so it really isn’t an issue anymore. You come to realize that it isn’t a big deal unless its a legal form. When I was little other kids always asked and I have a had a few people ask about if it is short for something. Normally people think it is cool that it isn’t and that it is with an i. In fact some of my college classes people learned and remembered my name because of it, which is helpful. I will say lately alot of people seem to hear my name as [name]Alice[/name], but that maybe just be my accent.

So overall, no at this point it isn’t a giant pain to explain my name is just [name]Alix[/name] and to spell it. I think when you have a name that sounds like common ones you are always going to have to explain, spell it. [name]Just[/name] a fact of life. But I love my name and always have, you may get a few gender confused comments but with the way names are now I think you are less likely to deal with being a Mr. [name]Alix[/name] and people being “upset” ( for a lack of a better word) about having to rewrite the spelling to the correct way and such.

[name]Hope[/name] that helps

I go to school with an [name]Alix[/name], so my image of an [name]Alix[/name] is completely influenced by my classmate. The [name]Alix[/name] I know is preppy, tiny, rides horses, and is very smart (and she knows it). She can come across as stuck-up, but she is actually a very nice and funny girl if you get to know her.

Hm, are any of the Alixes here one I know? Haha. I went to high school with one. We weren’t BFFs or anything but she was one of the nicer girls at my school (which was rare, I hated 90% of the people I went to school with, haha). I know she did a lot of ice skating and I think she teaches/taught skating too. She’s pretty friendly and outgoing.
