What would a strict parent name their kid?

Hii!! After a huge case of writer’s block ( ) I am back! I have a new story, and one of the families are the McBranes. The family has a strict, perfectionist, and slightly rude father. He is a little mournful of his wife, who died during his youngest child’s birth. His name is [name_m]Alan[/name_m] McBrane ( please let me know if you have a new name for him! ). That is all i have for this family, lol. Help please? I want him to have a son and two daughters. The oldest is the son, who is 12. He is gloomy and awkward. The middle child is a five year old girl who is a bit of a handful and girly. Then the six month baby girl.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] it wasnt too long. Please reply soon!!!

Im thinking biblical names. [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], etc. Or just plain bland like [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Christian[/name_m]? That biblical. If that’s the way in which they’re strict, at least. Also feeling dorky names like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], or [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. Also thinking about [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] for some reason.
Then, for the girl, you can either go the vanilla route with a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], or, I dunno, [name_f]Meghan[/name_f]? [name_f]Emily[/name_f]? [name_f]Nora[/name_f]? Or you could almost get away with a [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], or something a little less common and more interesting.
Also McBranes? I kept reading it as McBarnes because I didnt wanna make the brain sound in my head.

Oh, i didnt even notice the brain! Maybe I should change it to McBarnes… Thanks!!!

I like papaya’s ideas, and I want to add that he might have named the baby for the dead mother, so she’d have a 70s(?) name, like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] or [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u].

Here are some ideas for the kids’ names-

[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m] McBarnes
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_f]Maire[/name_f] McBarnes
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] McBarnea

I envision a strict parent naming their kid something long and somewhat old-fashioned, that way they can often call them by their full first name/full name
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmond[/name_m]

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]

Good luck!

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or some other flower name that’s common is what I see for the girl. I also agree with sagebrush in that they’d have a long name.

[name_m]Alan[/name_m] McBarnes or even McBanes is much better.

My first thought was [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. I think it depends on what the mother was like though- I’m imagining the middle daughter as more like her, and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] seems slightly more fun (although I like the names [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Clare[/name_u]- no shade!). Following that formula I would also suggest:

[name_m]Damian[/name_m] , [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
