What would the kid name the baby?

If it was up to the kid in the family, like if you already have a child, or if you have a little sister/brother, or if you are close to a little kid and they suggested he name for your future baby… what would it be?
Would you let your child name your baby that is going to be born? Do your Styles look similar or nothing alike?

[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin’s boys had the task of trying to name my younger nephew. His older brother is [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. They wanted to name the baby [name_u]Jackson[/name_u].:rofl::rofl:. No surprise to the adults when my brother turned down their suggestion.

With that in mind, they will not be trying to name any kid of mine. [name_f]My[/name_f] nieces and nephews choices I’d love to hear, but I/we would more than likely go with what I/we choose.

So I have two sisters, one 13 months younger than me and one 4 years younger than me, I like 13 months naming style a lot more  (her fav names are [name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u] (b), [name_u]Sol[/name_u], her style is really nice) but since we’re going with the babies in the fam my baby sis would probably want my kid to be named something like [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] (g), [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] (g) or [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] (I don’t even know what her boy names are they all get mixed). 13 months could get a decent grip of my style even though ours our pretty different, 4 years thinks that any weird name is one I’ll like

I wouldn’t let a relative directly name my baby (like I say “hey you can name my baby” kind of situation) but I would like to hear their suggestions and if I turned out naming a baby a name they suggested than cool for them they get bragging rights

Hmm… I’ll have to ask! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

If I had my pick, my brother would be [name_m]Rock[/name_m] Puddle Chocolate. [name_m]Rock[/name_m] as a first name, and Puddle Chocolate as his middle name.

I asked the little girl I nanny what to name my baby and she said Frog!

My cousin named her little sister because her parents were discussing baby names while The Parent Trap (with Lindsay Lohan) was on, and I now have a cousin named Hallie! I think the kids in our family would name a baby Elsa or Anna now, but it worked back then!

[name_f]My[/name_f] little sister is so funny :joy: she’s 3 1/2, and has always come up with the best names for her stuffed animals and dolls. She had a hippo named “Chicken Smith” a hedge hog named “Tin Tin” a dog named “Patchu” and a baby names “Tweecrit” lol. We recently asked her what we should name our newest little sister and she said “probably Yaypo” haha

[name_f]My[/name_f] 9 year old little sister once said that if she had three daughters, she would name them Doteena, Safiira and Elfiira. All these names were invented by her

The only true kid in my family is my 14 month old nephew… so I would probably end up with a kid called “Bah!” If it was up to a sibling, I have no clue what my brother would pick for me, maybe [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_u]Jack[/name_u] but I feel like he’d pick something specifically to spite me. I’m going to stick with [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. If my sisters picked, I would maybe end up with [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] for a girl (here’s to hoping for Felicity!! I’m not very fond of the other two) and I’m not sure her style for a boy… at one point she liked [name_u]Everett[/name_u] quite a lot. I’d be okay with a [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or an [name_u]Everett[/name_u]! The other sister is really loving [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Lemon[/name_u], maybe [name_f]Leia[/name_f] for a girl, and [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_u]Shai[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Ocean[/name_u], etc. for a boy. I’d happily take [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] and maybe [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] or Opal… Lemon’s kind of weird but I like it in a weird way.

Funny story, I “named” my sister (the one who likes [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and Everett) when she was born! I’m four years older, we’d just learned about [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] for my class at church, and so when my mom asked what I would name the baby on the way, I said [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]. [name_m]Little[/name_m] did I know that [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] was literally the ONLY name on their girls’ list, haha. They took it as a sign, and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] she became!

I probably wouldn’t let a little kid dictate what I named my kid, but would probably take their opinions and suggestions, and if I loved it, would consider using it in some way… But it’s still my kid and would come down to what I and my future hypothetical husband preferred, in the end.

Hey I’m technically a kid! I spend loads of time on here for my writing anyway so I’d probably just use this website. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister would probably name it after whichever fictional character she had the biggest crush on at the time. Overall, I don’t think our parents would like our suggestions.

That is too funny! Years ago when I was pregnant with my second, my then six year old randomly suggested naming the baby Frog “because it’s better than [name_m]Turtle[/name_m], I guess.”

Have zero clue where that came from, but apparently it’s a popular choice with the under 10 crowd. :joy:

As someone who’s sibling actually got to name them: my brother (7 at the time) named me after a girl he had a crush on

Hahaha that’s too funny. I would definitely have to agree that Frog is a better name than [name_m]Turtle[/name_m] (even though it seems [name_m]Turtle[/name_m] is coming up in the nameberry database and Frog doesn’t???)

ok i’m back with my answers! and I will quote their exact answers:

DH: “oh no, not more names, you can chose at this point”
ME: “no you have free reign”
DH: “hmmm ok then. Probably something like [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] or [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] for a girl and um…uh…idk [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]? ooh ooh ooh actually no Flynn”

[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] (eldest daughter - age almost 9): “for a girl [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] because it starts with H and so does my name and its the best letter and then for a boy [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] because it would cool. and it begins with H. Oh but can I choose the middle names as well because I really like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] but its a granny name and the baby would look like an old lady but if its in the middle its like its secretly there but hidden so people won’t know”

[name_m]Ferris[/name_m] (eldest son - age 7): “River. I don’t care about if its a boy or a girl its cool. There is a boy in my class called [name_u]River[/name_u] and I don’t really like him that much but he has a cool name which is also annoying”

[name_u]James[/name_u] (age 3): “Elsie or um…Billy…or Joel…or [name_u]Billy[/name_u] Joel…is that allowed?”

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (age 3): “Petal or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. or [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. or Rosie.”
ME: “and what about for a boy?”
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]: “ugh. I don’t like boys names they’re annoying. looks out the window Leef…yeah…Leef”

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (age 3): “Lucia”
ME: “but that’s your name”
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]: “I know but its nice and then the baby will have a nice name like me”
ME: “ok…and what about a boy?”
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]: “Lucia…cant that be a boys name as well?”

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (8 months): stares at me - no comment

[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] (8 months): cries - no comment

right so that was an interesting insight…

[name_f]My[/name_f] nephew wants to name my sisters baby [name_m]Philip[/name_m]. I would be all about it but she said nope. I’d be down for a middle name to be [name_m]Philip[/name_m], it’s cute!
