[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
Lately I’ve been really loving the name [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
However, I can’t think of any nicknames I like enough to use. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_u]Dory[/name_u], and Thea’s alright but I wouldn’t use it frequently.
For me, the most intuitive choice is [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], which I really like, but I don’t think that’s really a nickname she’d like to use outside of the home or be a more for general use nickname.
I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], but that isn’t particularly intuitive - why not just name her [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] then?
I don’t mind [name_f]Dee[/name_f] or [name_f]Dede[/name_f] / [name_f]Deedee[/name_f] either.
But to the point, I was wondering what you guys would instinctively shorten [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] to? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would you intuitively shorten it at all? It doesn’t have an intuitive nickname in my opinion, but anything more than two or sometimes even one syllable is ‘too much effort’ for people in my country
So, to the point, what would you instinctively shorten [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] to?
Thank you!
[name_f]Doro[/name_f] or [name_f]Dora[/name_f], I think. Also [name_f]Thea[/name_f], and [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] maybe.

[name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_f]Dodie[/name_f] would be my instinct! But [name_f]Dia[/name_f], [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] would also come really naturally to me.
Probably Thea?
But if it was my kid, I’d also consider Dodie, Dolly, Ro, Dea, Dee, or Dora (I guess depending on the kid)
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] would be my first instinct - and I really [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. But otherwise [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_f]Dot[/name_f].
Dottie would be first, then Thea and Theo which is my personal favourite!
Haha, that’s often true
(If it’s australia you’re talking about)

I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] works! I wouldn’t instinctively shorten it and I like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] in its full form.
Not sure if you like it but [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] might work for a boyish nickname ?
[name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_u]Dory[/name_u], but I think [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] works also.
[name_f]Dot[/name_f]! I adore [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] and [name_f]Dot[/name_f]. [name_f]Dot[/name_f] is simple, sweet and cute. I probably also like it for it’s similarities to my own nickname, [name_f]Cat[/name_f].
[name_f]Thea[/name_f], if anything.
I wouldn’t intuitively shorten it!! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], and [name_f]Didi[/name_f] would be my favorites if I did.
probably [name_f]Thea[/name_f]!
Probably [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Dora[/name_f] and I think Dot/ [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] would probably be reserved for family only? Dot/ [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is so adorable though
, I think the main reason I love this name, is this nn opinion. I personally never call someone by a nn. Only very-very good friends and only when they have given me a permission to do that. [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name, I think it would be a joy to say it out loud the way it is.
Instinctively…Dorrie, [name_f]Doro[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Dodo[/name_f], Dear, [name_f]Dorte[/name_f]
Probably [name_f]Thea[/name_f]! [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] is super sweet
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] feels the most natural
