[name_f]Lyssa[/name_f], [name_m]Cole[/name_m], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f]
My kids go by their nn’s 95% of the time, especially my girls, and we are expecting another girl in [name_u]July[/name_u]. Choosing this one’s name has been the hardest to date. What would you pick for their baby sister.
It’s pretty obvious that the girls have a trend of double letters and end in -y or -a but believe it or not that was an accidental trend. Same with the boys (end in -e) and one I wasn’t going to continue if this one were a boy.
Names we like…
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] : Our favorite…it bothers me to break from the tradition of [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] but dh will not get on board. He loves [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] (rhymes with parade) nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]: Second favorite…my girls have longer full names, 3 syllables, but [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] fits with the boys’ 2. But is [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Milly[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] too much?
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] nn Francy: I love this but I still haven’t completely sold dh on it. It’s just so feminine to me and the nn has an obvious connection which follows suit with the other kids’ names.
There are a few other names on my my list but these are the only 3 I can picture us using (atm). However, I’m always open to suggestions.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is one of my favorite names and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] would be very pretty. Some other suggestions…
I do really like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Mairead[/name_f]! I hadn’t considering using one of our choices as a mn. We have [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] as the mn combo, atm. It’s not set in stone though.
I love so many of your suggestions but unfortunately most are not available to use. The full name/nickname theme is HUGE in my family/friends circle (rather annoying to be honest).
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] “[name_f]Bea[/name_f]” – I have a [name_f]Milly[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] (which I adore) had I known there was 1 more to come I would have saved it.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] “[name_f]Coco[/name_f]” “[name_u]Cory[/name_u]” “[name_f]Dee[/name_f] [name_f]Dee[/name_f]” – strong contender but then myself and my daughter would both have [name_m]Cor[/name_m]- names. This bothers me for some reason. I like everybody to have a different sound.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] “[name_u]Rory[/name_u]” – 1st cousin used it
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “[name_u]Nori[/name_u]” – I haven’t heard ‘[name_u]Nori[/name_u]’ but I’d still feel like I was jumping on the [name_f]Elle[/name_f]- and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] train. Very popular in my area.
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] “[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]” – [name_m]Friend[/name_m] used it
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] “[name_u]Jules[/name_u]” – [name_m]Friend[/name_m] used it
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] “[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]” “[name_f]Wendy[/name_f]” " [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]" – rhymes with another name we have used
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] “[name_f]May[/name_f]” – I feel like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] could potentially lead to teasing with our last name so I stay away from it and most Marg- names
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” - Like the [name_f]Ell[/name_f]- train, there is an [name_f]Eve[/name_f]- train here as well
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “[name_f]Josey[/name_f]” “[name_u]Jojo[/name_u]” – [name_m]Friend[/name_m] used it
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] “[name_f]Belle[/name_f]” – there is also a [name_f]Bel[/name_f]- train but we were one of the first to join, lol!
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] “[name_f]Willa[/name_f]” – This one hurts the most but a friend used it
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] “[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]” “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]” – rhymes with a name we use
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] “[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]” “[name_f]Viv[/name_f]” – [name_m]Friend[/name_m] used it
I adore [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]-- The nn Francy is so cute. Im wondering if other NN options would help sell your husband. I know a little girl that goes by [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], which I think it’s absolutely adorable.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is great too. It might be a little stretch, but I think [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] works.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] “[name_f]Della[/name_f]” – personal favorite
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f] “[name_f]Lina[/name_f]” (lee-nuh)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] “[name_f]Lila[/name_f]”
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] “[name_f]Mia[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Lia[/name_f]”
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f] “[name_f]Cat[/name_f]” “[name_f]Cate[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Lina[/name_f]”
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] “[name_f]Gen[/name_f]” “[name_f]Genny[/name_f]” “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” “Vive”
Out of your options, I prefer [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosy[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f] nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]/[name_f]Minny[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] nn Sephy/[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] nn Saffy
[name_f]Aldina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ally[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] gets my vote, too! Great choice! (I prefer [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] in the middle over [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] because the weight and dignity of [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] balances [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] perfectly! [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is a little ‘too’ cute, imo). Good luck!
