Hey, Im not expecting just collecting names. Im writing a novel and my main character is named Summer (called Sum or Freckles due to freckless on her face). She’s 17 at the start of my story. She is raised by her father and stepmom along with her brother, half sis and a step sis Aria. She loves fall, crunchy leaves, foggy mornings, cold nights, old abandoned places. She plays the guitar and sings beautifully. She used to be a cheerleader and a popular girl in high school. She was born in October. She loves nature and smells like cherries. The family live in West Virginia. In the book she’s of French and Scottish roots. Anyway, Im finishing the novel and her name just doesn’t feel right. Not sure if it’s the seasonal name and she was born in the fall. I love Summer. I picture her like the girl below:
What would you name her? Would you change the name? The last name is Mackenzie but I can change it. And what nationality does she look?

For me, I’m thinking of a name that feels preppy, cool and breezy, not too out there, but not too popular (for her birth year anyway)

I can see her most as a [name_f]Saylor[/name_f] [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], [name_f]Fallon[/name_f] [name_m]Mackenze[/name_m] or [name_m]Spencer[/name_m] [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f]. I can also kind of see her as a [name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f] though and you could totally use that name for her if you want to. The reader will probably see her as a [name_f]Summer[/name_f] once they get use to her as a [name_f]Summer[/name_f] even if they don’t see it straight away.
I also like Greyblue’s suggestion of [name_f]Emery[/name_f], I can see her as an [name_f]Emery[/name_f] [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f] too.
For me she’s looks Balkan she gives me Mila Kunis vibes in relation to looks so I would say she’s Balkan rather than Scottish. However she could pass for French.
I think if this is the overall look for your character maybe embrace the French naming style with names like Amelie or Elodie. I would also use a Scottish surname that isn’t as rugged like Lockhart, Cameron,
Cunningham and Scott. Something like Amelie Cunningham would evoke the old money feel this girl seems to ooze.
From your list I think Sutton, Fallon + Spencer would be the best!
