What you think of the name Pio?

There are many threads on the female name [name_f]Pia[/name_f],and people making fun saying it sounds like pee-uh or piano. But no threads for the boy version.

What you think of the male version for a boy, [name_m]Pio[/name_m] (meaning Pious). translates well in italiano and Spanish.

I don’t know, I feel like if people have those issues with [name_f]Pia[/name_f], they’ll have them with [name_m]Pio[/name_m], too. I like [name_f]Pia[/name_f], but probably wouldn’t use it. While I find [name_m]Pio[/name_m] aesthetically pleasing, I like it less than I do [name_f]Pia[/name_f], for some reason? I think I like [name_m]Pius[/name_m] better than [name_m]Pio[/name_m], even though it seems super Catholic for someone not Catholic?

Unfortunately in the US it just evokes needing to pee.

Internationally though I can support it. It’s otherwise sweet and simple.

I’m american and I dont disike it but the first thing that comes to mind is how in english a baby chicken says cheep cheep but in spanish they say pio pio. Its not that bad but theres so many similar names, I’d rather be named [name_m]Gio[/name_m], [name_u]Rio[/name_u], or [name_m]Leo[/name_m].

Could be misheard for B.O. (body odour) so it’s a gentle no from me even though I like O-ending names.

Thanks - you’re all right - it looks odd with our lastname also so we will discard
